New Nuclear Red Hair

Hi Guys,

My hair has been recovering over the past several months from getting it from dark brown with flashes of Atomic Pink (SFX) to a natural all-over medium ash brown.  I wanted to grow my hair out a bit and give it a break from bleach, use a lot of intensive conditioners, generally leave my hair alone etc.  However, because I'm a natural light blonde, and it doesn't suit me in the slightest, I get bored very easily and brown and black are just such dull alternatives.  Also, I find that my blonde roots when they come through are very resistant to brown dyes in particular, especially permanent, which frustrates me!  I've had red hair before but I used L'Oreal Feria by Preference in Pure Spice Power, which gave great first-time-dye results and always covered my roots well, but faded out too fast.  So, I've decided to bite the bullet and go for the super vivid Little Mermaid shade of red, Nuclear Red (SFX).  All I had to do to get the below result is put a bleach bath (1/2 bleach, 1/2 shampoo) on for 15-20 minutes until my hair went blonde and orange, very little damage was caused as I didn't use neat bleach and my hair was in much better condition than it has been.  I then smothered my hair in the Nuclear Red and left it to soak in for about an hour, here is the result.  I'm really happy because it's even all over and super super bright!

Hope you like it!

Beautiful colour result!
Great that you also managed it without a full bleaching.

Gorgeous colour!

I'm also jealous you did it with no damage from little bleach, you're very lucky!

Thank you!  I love it!

I think I got away with only doing a bleach bath because I'd left my hair alone for a good while and the only dye that had gone over previous bleach was the same medium ash brown dye x 3.  It may even help being naturally blonde too, cause the roots tend to take no time at all to lift.

Nuclear red is the first color I ever did and will probably always be my favorite!

Just an update, it's been nearly 3 weeks now and the Nuclear Red colour is still packing a punch!  It's faded in the sense that it no longer has that 'nuclear' glow from fresh dying, but it is still most definitely a true red, and I can't see it fading to orange for a long time yet, certainly not before my roots need doing anyway!

That happened to me too. It was red for so long and after that it was a nice orange but that took FOREVER for it to get that way.

So, it's been over a month and I've STILL not needed to re-dye!  Sure, my blonde roots are coming through a little, but who cares?  The red is still very bright and still hasn't faced to orange.  VERY impressed with this colour.
