Well, I always wanted to try bright red hair. So it was black and I had it stripped and it went lightish blacky-brown. So the hairdresser put a red dye over it and it went brown. So I bleached it and it went orange, so I put a red dye on it and it went black again. So I bleached it again and there we were back at orange and fried completely dead. So I got the horrified hairdresser to cut off all the dead hair and let it grow healthy again. So I had a bright orange bob (and i cried for a week), so then, last night, 4 weeks later I dyed it red ………… and it’s red!!!!! Yaaaaaaaay!!! But still a bob so now I have to keep colouring (not dying) it bright red and let it grow again.
It took 4 months in total and I swung from madly optomistic to appalled on a number of occasions. Was it worth it? YES, if it grows and i can maintain it.
The mistake i made was bleaching the second time. If i'd used Manic Panic over the first lot of orange it would still have been long Sad
For the record I used Jerome Russell bleach (the BEST like EVER), then Feria P67, then Manic Panic over the resulting orange-red.
Just add to that, the Manic Panic is Vampire Red over the orange and its been on there 4 weeks now with 2 washes a week! Amazing staying power 😀
I just did the roots with L'Oreal Magicontrast Magenta red. As my roots are grey it's gone brighter but covers very well.
Ooh great pictures! Love the make up you wore on the first picture, makes you look all exotic. 😀
Thanks 😀 The top pic was getting ready for a Burlesque evening as we are great fans of Burlesque. Im gutted that I lost the length by dying my hair bright red but if I can get it the same length as the top picture and keep red I'll be thrilled 😀
Great pics cherryfest, red really suits you. I noticed you said you used majicontrast magenta red, that is a pinky colour on my hair, I find the redest red is red and not magenta red. If the majocontrast suits and colours your grey you should try that next time.
