Hi guys! I have a question..
I dyed the underneath of my hair, basically the hair in my neck and a bit up, nuclear red. Loved it, but wanted it a bit brighter. Yesterday I decided to bleach bathe it, before dying it red again. I was worried about leaving it in too long and damaging my hair (have done before). So I didn't leave it in very long, but now it's still very yellow. Not at all inside of a banana yellow, it's more of a very ripe banana on the ouside. I figured it doesn't have to be perfect, as it's not at the top of my head. But I'm concerned about dying now. Will yellow hair + red make orange?! Should I bleach bathe again at some point first, or would red be safe to use today? I do not like orange! π
Advice please?!
Nuclear Red is absolutely fine over yellow blonde, you only really need to lighten to ginger for any red anyway. My hair doesn't go through a ginger stage when bleaching so I used to apply Nuclear Red over yellow blonde all the time and it was perfect. Nuclear does have an orange fade though, if you want a truer red fade you can mix a pink based red into it!
Yes, it'll be fine. Nuclear is about the strongest colour out there. It'll cover that just fine. As lauralei says though, adding a pink red will help with any orange fade that nuclear naturally has.
It went that yellow partly because of the nuclear that was already on it!
Of course, that makes so much sense! Why didn't I think of that haha. I forgot about the orange fading, so thanks to both of you. I added about 40% cherry bomb to 60% nuclear red, with one dot of atomic pink =P Dye is currently colouring my hair, so we'll see how that works out!
Yeah Nuclear used to go neon yellow on me if I bleached over it! Like Cyndi Lauper neon yellow ha! That sounds like it should work out really nice, don't forget to show us the result!
