UPDATE - I've re-dyed the rainbow a few times now, changed some colours and I got a fringe cut in - here are some pics of it now πŸ™‚

This is my first go at a rainbow and I'm so happy with it! I did really small sections as I wanted a mixed multicolour effect, kind of like tie-dye rather than a straightforward rainbow.
(Its still slightly wet but I'll post more pictures when I take some.)

I started with a mix of Lagoon Blue, Atlantic Blue and Bubblegum Blue:

Faded to this:

I bleach bathed and toned with Touch of Silver shampoo and sectioned my hair. I started at the bottom and used little elastic ties for each section. There are four layers of sections from the bottom to the top and I did it mostly at random, except my fringe, which I separated into 3 backwards streaks as I usually wear my hair up at the front. There are at least 30 sections, as I wanted a multicoloured effect, not just a straight rainbow.

I mixed the colours in seperate pots, with several shades of some of the colours for a multi tonal effect:

Colours used:

Rose Red diluted (Directions)
Pinkissimo (Crazy Colour)

Bubblegum blue (Crazy Colour)
Atlantic Blue diluted (Directions)
Turquoise (Directions)
Lilac (Directions)
Spring Green (Directions)
Apple Green (Directions)
Apple Green diluted (Directions)
Bright Daffodil (Directions)
Orange = Bright Daffodil and Pillarbox Red (Directions)
Pillarbox Red diluted (Directions)
Bubblegum blue and Atlantic Blue mixed (Crazy Colour and Directions)

I then applied colour to each section with a tint brush, starting at the bottom and working my way up. After I coloured each section I twisted it and clipped it up to keep it out of the way. This was pretty slow and difficult, it took me about 2 hours to do. I left it like this for about 4 hours and then rinsed out each section one by one, and clipped it back up afterwards. I didn't shampoo or condition it as the dye made it feel very soft. I gently towel dried it, blow dried it a little, and this was the final result:

Oh my! That is so pretty! You did a great job. I would love to see the process, (especially how you sectioned it off) and pics of it down.

Thank you all! I started my Masters Degree today and got so many compliments from strangers on campus and even from my professors! I'm terrified to wash it but I'll let you know how it holds up!
