From Napalm Orange Flash to Rainbow Flash!

So my roots were pretty bad, and I decided to try a rainbow! I like it a lot πŸ™‚ but my hairs a bit fuzzy from the two 40 vol bleachings :(. I did this over about a week, doing the pink and the rainbow colours took about 3 hours to do.

I used Directions Fire, SFX Napalm Orange, Manic Panic Electric Banana, Stargazer African Green, Directions Lagoon Blue, Directions Violet. And the rest of the pink is SFX Atomic Pink.

So I started off like this -

I then used the extra strength Colour B4 and it faded it a little bit but it absolutely stank! -

I then bleached it, and the ends went very pale but near the roots went very very yellow -

So I bleached it again (I expected to have to bleach it twice, this time I did all of my roots and just stuck some on the yellow bits for the last 20 minutes) and ended up like this, only a bit of yellow left -

So, on Sunday I sectioned my hair off like this, with the yellow section being the biggest (it really does seem to shrink when you wash it out) -

Matthew (other half and master hair dyer, with the patience of a saint!) worked from back to front (violet to red) and used foils to paint on to and then scrunched the ends up into the foil like this -

We washed it out with cold water, me sat in the empty bathtub freezing and him trying to carefully wash out first the pink, then the red, orange, violet, blue, green then yellow and it looked like this after being washed out -

And, finally, when dried!

This pic looks a little bit funny because the back of my head all looks purpley when there's actually a more definite streak of violet and then the rest is pink.

I'm so happy with it! But I'm a bit scared about when I need to wash it next πŸ˜›

And I don't think we'll be able to touch it up, might just have to slap Atomic Pink all over it when it fades, don't want to bleach it again.

aw thanks guys  πŸ˜€

ha yeah, Matthew likes to complain about doing my hair, but I'm pretty sure he loves it really lol, as I'm sure yours does too pip  πŸ˜‰

Although I think he wants a break from hair dying duties after the marathon hair sessions we've done this past week! Totally worth it though, I'm glad I've finally done a rainbow.

I used to really want dreads and very very nearly did them at one point, the only thing that puts me off is that my hair is a bit short, and that theyre so much more permanent than hair dye.

What colour dreads are you wanting to have?

'he's a good man, im impressed. im totally jealous' quote from ryan =) so twll your good man his work is appreciated =)

i bleached and put in some pink the other day and accidently got some bleach on my blue and ryan got grumpy as he's done a really good job on my blue. silly sausage. im getting blue, green, pink and orange synths fitted next month =)

but real dreads i'd want red, orange, yellow, pink, blue and green i think. although i've wanted dreads since i was 16, but never had the knowledge/courange/hair length to do it before. i wanted white blonde and pink dreads, but it's so much work to bleach/dye dreads. ryan would refuse to do my dreads ( i don't look after his so is only fair)

matthew's got a big smile on his face, a compliment from a fellow male hair dye master means a lot to him lol, and he says thanks πŸ˜›

ooooo messing up his hard work! not good. it just goes to show that he's so good at it, and that he's the only one who should ever do your hair. matthew always says he wishes he'd done a bad job first time round, kinda like that old joke about doing the washing up bad first time round so that he would never have got asked to do it again!

i'm very excited to see your synths, it's something ive always looked at pics of and read about doing, but ive never took the plunge and gone for it. i love real dreads but they would just go so short with the length of hair we have at the moment. and yeah it would be very difficult to swap colours of real dreads if you ever got bored. maybe you should start looking after his so he can return the favour later on πŸ˜›

yeah he said that i should palm roll his dreads as payment for him dying my hair. but i can't palm roll =s i have weird hands! lolz. well when they've finally finished being made and installed (im hoping before my dissertation next month) i'll upload some photo's =)

ryan introduced me to alt hair colours, as i always wanted them, but needed guiding and he showed me the light, so it's his own fault. i wish i could do my own hair, but i lack in skill and hand eye co ordination, even with a mirror *blushes*

I had bright hair from about 14/15, my mum used to do it for me. Matthew isn't 'alternative' in any way at all, he doesn't like the same music (he's very pop and mainstream indie and i like them too but i'm more into ska and punk) and he dresses...just...normal. so i think i'm very lucky to happen upon him as being a master hair dyer! he's a bit of a perfectionist which helps πŸ˜›

and brokenbutterfly, yours is great too, i love how its all over. theres no way i could get my atomic pink out to do all over! are you gonna try and redo it when it fades? i just don't think i'd be able to get the sections exactly right again.
