How is your colour lasting? I'd love to try purple but I've heard it washes out super quick?
Tomorrow will be a week since I dyed it, and I have only washed my hair 2 times, so I don't know how long it will last on people who wash their hair more often. But for me it's lasting so well I can't even believe it.
What I do is, I take a small amount of shampoo in my hand, mix it with some water and apply to the roots only and quickly, making sure my scalp feels clean but I don't scrub like mad for minutes. I then massage a bit my hair with the remaining shampoo on my hands, just for a few seconds and then wash my hair. Then I apply conditioner and let it sit for a while while I do other things.
The roots are noticeably brighter, but I also think it's due to my base being uneven or because the roots were blonder and that's where it fades the most. The lengths are basically the same, and I wish I had a picture that showed the purple as it is because it's gorgeous xD
I think every other dye washes out super quick if you don't wash with cold water and try not to spend too much time scrubbing your head with shampoo. I'll update this with my fade pictures when it fades and let you all know how it went :3
Edit: Also, I only left the dye on for 1 hour and half because I was in a rush, but leaving it on for several hours would make this staying a lot better, which I'll try to do next time.
Beutiful colour I have the same hair as that when I applied it but it going into a nice faded blue π
Now that it's fading, I have the weirdest purple fade ever: some turquoise streaks, a LOT of electric blue and SOME purple. It's crazy! Which makes me think we got some of the bad batches here in spain too haha π I don't mind it because it's a curious fade (I will take a picture of it this week) and because the random streaks look pretty well organized haha. But yeah, now that I want purple hair, I've got blue xD The only part where it's most like plum should be is the roots, everything else is a mix of blurple and turquoiseish tones ha!
Quick update on the fade, sorry they are not very good pictures but you get the idea xD I hope next time I buy plum it will be well... plum haha!
It still looks strong, I captured these parts because it's where it's faded the most and where you can see that it deffinitely doesn't look plum xD Still not a sight for blonde or orange hairs so it's still lasting.

I wish i could get some of the dodgy batch of Plum, I love the blue fade. For me Plum has only ever faded pink.
It's not like it only fades blue, it really looks more blue than purple mostly. In my case it's not good because my base was quite orange, I wanted purple this time because I failed at dying my hair blue (it went green) and I thought this base would suffice. Which would have happened if not for the fact that this plum has more blue than actual purple so yeah, no pink fade except for the roots and some parts which sucks.
I really don't know what to do, I still have one pot and half of Plum but to know this will be the fade makes me feel so uneasy xD It doesn't look bad, but it looks quite strange, even more when it's not what I wanted. I guess I'll see where I'm at once this fades completely.
You could mix the plum you have with poppy red or rose red as there pink based.
It should make your plum more purple.
The problem is I order the dyes online because here I can only find Crazy Colors and Hairgum Aricolor and wanted a better lasting dye. So I can't really buy that much dye, taking into account that for my hair I use almost 2 pots of dye D: But I'll take that into consideration, thanks!
you could always dilute your semi permanent dyes with conditioner.
i have hair about the same length as in your photo and i tend to use 1 tub or less of directions (dependin on what colour i use) and mix it with white conditioner.
Plum is very dark and heavily pigmented so it takes well to being diluted with conditioner.
also there are tips on this forum on how to get your colored hair to last longer.
so you can go longer between coloring and use and spend less money on dye.
Just wanted to let you know that after a month...
-The parts that turned purple are still going strong but
-Everything else, that went blue because I had 3 bottles of the faulty Plum, is now still strong, yes, but blueish in some parts but really turquoise everywhere else.
I don't have a picture for you that shows how it looks like, but really, not purple. I will be contacting Directions and see if they can do anything for me but I doubt they will after one month.
I'll have to fade the "turquoise" as much as possible when I want to apply a true purple next right? I still have one and half pots of this faulty Plum so I'll be reapplying this month, but I hope it won't stick that much to the hair and make the green never leave my hair, or that it goes purple as it was supposed to D:
After two months, my hair is green mostly, but has a turquoise tint to it under the sun. I attached two pictures, the first is an earlier stage and the second is the current colour.
My question now is... what to do from here? My hair is due dying, if the fade was according to the purple I wouldn't mind it that much, but it came out quite uneven and even though I love green, it's not the colour I want right now (or anymore xD). Since I wanted purple so much.
I have one and half jars of the stupid faulty batch of Plum... but if I put it over this, will it look like it did in the first application? And also, won't the green be super hard to remove later when I buy a REAL purple? I can't afford more dyes right now until I finish that unopened jar.
Will a real purple go over that? And in case I need to fade it more or get rid of it, would a bleach bath do the job? So many questions but if anyone has had green after plum... please help. Thank you!
I would try a deep pink as suggested before, do a strand test directly over the green and see how purple it is. Your other option is to mix a dark pink with the Plum you already have.
I will try that! Will the green come up after it starts fading? Argh damn green I lovehate it xD
I don't know if the pigment in the dodgy Plum is actually green, or if it just looks green because it is blue on top of the yellow in your base. If you really want to be certain the green won't come back you will have to continue fading it, once it is a minty pastel shade the pink in the purple will neutralise it.
