I know people are always asking which colours fade faster etc. Maybe this will help some people, maybe not.
Dreadlocks need washing less than normal hair so bear this in mind when you look at the pictures. The product I used was Stargazer's Shocking Pink. I put it on a month ago and since then I've washed my dreads 4 times. I'm sure some of the dye has worn off without being washed off but nothing seems to be stained. My pillow cases and hats are not marked at all but even between washes I've noticed a fade in the colour.
So here's my hair with brand new Pinkness!
Before going pink I was a brownish/auburn colour. I bleached my hair to a pale brown/yellow blonde before using the pink. After a couple of weeks and two washes I noticed the ends of my hair were returning to a bleached state.
Now after four weeks and four washes I still have patches of bright pink but it's certainly wearing off. I will re-dye it at some point but for the moment I thought you guys might like to see the type of fade that I'm experiencing.
I'm not actually bothered by the fade that much. I will buy Stargazer products again but if anyone is wondering what to expect from this product then hopefully this will help you to make up your mind.
I LIKE IT!
Yeah I kinda like the "patchy" look. Some of it has gone pale pink, some of it is still strong pink and parts are almost orange but it looks funky so I don't mind. I've never been that neat and tidy in my appearance anyway so the fade fits right in! Haha ๐
Mathurine would you mind if we added these to the hair dye gallery? We never add any pics without permission so wont add them if you don't say its ok, but soooo many people ask what the colours look like when they fade so these pics would be very helpful to others. We are always looking for dreadlock photos too so these pics would be ideal for the faded and dreadlock sections. Post on here if its ok or send me a pm - cheers ๐
Sure! For future reference if I post any pics that you want, feel free to grab them. You always have my permission.
Cheers - have added these to the ones for the next gallery update later this month. I will put your alias as Mathurine unless you want this left blank or something else added instead.
That's fine, I don't mind if you use my name on it. Anyone who joins the forum will see it's me anyway.
After trying out Stargazer Baby Pink I've gone back to Shocking Pink again. The baby pink was awful on coverage and it faded really quickly. Maybe I just had a bad batch but it didn't suit me anyway so I'm back to vibrant pinkiness! Hubby loves it when my hair colour is loud, strange as he's a totally straight laced guy. Happy me!
I love it! are those real dreads of syntetic ones?
Mine are real. I first dreaded my hair about 3 years ago when I had long hair down to my bra strap. Dreads bunch up your hair so it ended up just short of shoulder length when I'd finished. I wanted long hair again and because dreads continue to bunch up as they grow they take ages to grow long so I bought some real hair off ebay and made my own extentions. I love my long dreadies! I can never go back to normal hair again.
I do love the synth ones though, they have more options for colours and styles but for me, it's real ones all the way.
I used the same dye when I did my pink, but I did mine on white blonde hair. It actually lasted 2-3 months and even the faded colour was pretty cute
I actually like the fading too! And I love your hair, it's so charming. ๐
I like the fading too,esp in second pic looks baby pinkish cute.Change of subject but I love your glasses where did you get them from?Im having eye test on Tues for some new speccies really love yours.I usually wear contacts all the time, but need to save money so will be wearing contacts only when i go out.
The rhinestone glasses just found the bin recently lol! The stones dropped out really quick and left a nasty green glob of glue behind. I didn't take them back but I think some other people might have. I was one of the first to buy them but I went looking at new glasses the other day and I noticed they didn't have those ones any more so I think they had some complaints.
The Specsavers cheapies are nice, not nerdy looking. I like retro nerdy looking but some places just do horrible naff glasses, specsavers don't. Also if you find some cheap frames on Ebay or another glasses site Specsavers will put the lenses in for you. Costs depends on the shape of the lense - I asked about it once coz I saw some gorgeous cat eye glasses on a site called "retrospecs". So maybe that could save you some cash too.
Thanks Matty had to cancel the opticians appt, but Ive been on specsavers website and you can try them on your pic, theres some really nice ones.I get a voucher from NHS which is usually about ยฃ50 cos Im really shortsighted -6.50 on last test ๐ฎ so should be able to get decent pair.
