Purpley dip dye! (kinda pic heavy) edit: with fade

So I just did it, I'm fairly excited by the result really. I wanted to finish my leftover MP so I just mixed what was left of my tub of Cotton Candy (about a 1/3 of a pot) and of Mystic Heather (about a 1/4 of a pot) together with a teeny bit of conditioner to dilute. Left it on for 3 hours and I quite like it. I ended up going the dip dye route for 2 reasons:
- I have quite a significant of natural roots which I am very keen on keeping, and I thought the dip dye would go with my natural ombre effect.
- I simply didn't think I had enough dye for my whole head, so thought better of having more than enough to cover my ends. Bearing in mind I have so far been extremely unimpressed by how unevenly MP takes to my hair and how bad it fades (too fast and the fade for cotton candy pink was a nasty reddish colour)

So here we go for pics:
Result of the bleach (XXL platinum) which didn't lighten so much because of my mistake with mixing:

Bonus shot: close up of my necklace which I think is hilarious. My bf got it as a gift for me as I'm originally from Paris and I am very fond of macaroons (though as all parisian I pretend to hate the eiffel tower but secretely love it but shush don't tell him!)

Bonus shot 2: everyone loves those cling film pic where you look silly, in my case with cling film pig tails and a fluffy puppy.

And finally, the result photo:

I'm sorry the photo isn't brilliant, I'm still getting use to this new camera. Plus I hate my face and am very awkward in front of the camera. But you get to see the result which is a lightish pinky purpley colour.

Also, I've made some roving dreads that I wanted to show off. Most of them are out of the grey colour but I did a few harlequins with turquoise in them. I really want to match my hair to the lilac/grey colour, but I think it's going to take aaaages.
the dreads:

And after only 2 washes, the purple has faded to a baby pink (peach in places and blonde as well). Thank god I got my BU order today so I have Directions dyes to play with as MP was not a successful experiment (lasted from 1 to 4 washes, that's about 1 to 2 weeks with 2 washes a week).
Here you go:

Sorry I'm in my pjs with no make-up but you get the gist of it.

Also, for anyone who want heat-free curls like these, I simply put my hair in a ponytail on top of my head and then rope braided it and slept in it.
Excellent rope braiding tutorial:

Ahh I love your fluffy puppy! hehe! The dip dye looks gorgeous, really love it. Something I'll have to try when my hair grows out.

The dip dye looks amazing, and love the dreads--are you making a fall?

I'm actually making a whole set of DEs, which is supposed to be 50-60. But it takes ages and I only have 18 right now. I thought because the wool is so warm and snuggly, they'll be really good for winter.
The thing is the install is going to take ages, braiding them all in, but hopefully the result will be nice. And I get to see if turquoise and grey suit me, for future reference ;).

And thank you so much for the compliments, both of you, I am still not very confident about my handiwork, although I have a lot of experience with traditional dyes, bleaching and veggie dyes is quite new for me (apart from the awful various Stargazer experiences of my youth  ;D).

Lovely dip-dye, and a great rope braid tutorial link, but I'm not seeing the fade photos?

The fade picture is the one just before the rope braid tutorial with the wavy hair. It's all gone now so I'm about to put some diluted directions violet allover tonight.

It faded by going through several shades of pink, the Mystic Heather washed out in about 2 washes and after that it was just pink.

Maybe it's my computer or my internet settings, but I'm still not seeing the fade photo.  There's the explanation about the fade and the introduction for the tutorial, but no pics in between the pic of the dreads and the tutorial.

How weird! I see it though? It's the same picture as the one in my post about opinions on facial piercings in the tattoos and piercings part of the forum.
