From lavender to not-green: A Hair Experimentation

Photo-graphical evidence of my journey from pretty lavender to the green it turned when I tried to remove the lavender to the color I have settled for in a quest to be audition-worthy.

1. Faded lavender (mix of Manic Panic Purple Haze and Shocking Blue) with coconut oil, before the first bleach bath

2. After the first bleach bath

3. First toning with Directions Flamingo Pink, heavily diluted in conditioner

4. After second bleach bath and similar toning

5. After third bleach bath. Toned with diluted Flamingo Pink mixed with Shimmer Lights conditioner and Ion reconstructor.

I decided that going to far and having pink hair was more musical theater than not going far enough and having green hair. It's so close to the white blonde I wanted, but I am in serious love with the pale pink.

My first attempt at attachments. I have resized. I hope it's enough!

Thanks! No green pigments on any of the bags that rested on my head. The girl who cut my hair thinks it might have been a chemical reaction with the combination of dyes, bleach, and mountain water. Stupid Denver. I should have stayed by the ocean!

I recall ending up with green strands of hair when I used to dye it purple. I think if I didn't rinse the bleach out well enough, putting the purple dye on top just made it go green. Of course, I was able to remedy this just by rinsing and putting more purple over, but I imagine it's much more difficult if you're trying to get your hair white!

I think the Easter egg mishmash of pastels is my favorite (the pic where I show my face!), but I couldn't bring myself to walk into an audition with "weird" hair, no matter how much my skin tone accepts most every color.

I didn't even think about my pink and blond hair when I was in there. They didn't mention it, either, though they did ask for my blood curdling scream (I list it on my resume!) and whether I play an instrument (no, but i read, and I could learn in 3 months!), so I think it wasn't a huge deal.

And I feel pretty with this color.

I love the pastel mix you ended up with. And it's good to hear your audition went well. Auditioning sucks. I did quite a bit of acting before I moved to the UK and I tried to audition for a bunch of student plays at my uni here and it was really horrible. The students were really snotty and mean. They were like 18 and taking themselves way seriously.

You're lucky you have a skintone that suits a lot of colours, it's good to look believable in every kind of colour that can be thrown at you!

There are some days when I wish I could have olive skin and crazy curls, so I could play more ethnic roles, but, alas, some of us were not meant to be able to perform in In the Heights! The mix that made me is fairly enviable in its own way.

I've faded more blonde, as planned. Secretly trying to keep it vaguely icy pink for now...

And I got a callback this morning! Woke up at 11:11, walked out to the kitchen, and my phone was ringing! Two weeks to prep for that...
