From Asian Black to Pink!

I've been wanting to try bright hair colours for a year now. I went to two hair dressers to ask about getting my hair dyed blue. They both put me under the impression that my hair needed to be bleached almost white in order to attain that colour and that this is almost impossible for very dark haired people without a huge amount of damage to the hair. While I know this is a truth, I wish they would have suggested slowly bleaching over time.

So here is my natural colour:

I ended up getting it dyed a dark pinkish red colour. The hairdresser used a 40vol on my hair to get it as bright as possible. It turned a gingery colour before she put a dye over it. That actually perked me up a bit. I thought it would've turned dark brown, nowhere near as light as she got it. Which meant another bleach might be enough to get it the colour I actually wanted! ๐Ÿ™‚ I waited a few months for my hair to heal and also to get full use out of my current colour. It cost me ยฃ90 to get it done!!

I don't have any pictures that really do that colour any justice. It just looks dark purple in all of them. This is probably the best one, (with my lovely bf stood next to me):

It is not that colour at all and it is brighter than that too!

Anyway, 6 months later, my hair was back in excellent condition. My roots were terrible so I thought it was about time I got to work with my next colour. I waited for a weekend where both me and my partner were free (as he was going to do it for me). I ColourB4'd it a few days earlier. It removed all the colour and left my hair a hideous dark orange. Had to turn up for work for 3 days before the weekend like this, that was fun ๐Ÿ˜› My roots were showing so badly!!

I was really worried about my roots. Seeing as my hair is naturally black and I was going to use a 30vol, I thought my roots might end up darker than the rest of my hair. I thought I'd pick a safer colour than blue so I don't end up with green tones in case I had orange roots. I went for pink instead. I got some Directions Cerise and Rose Red, and mixed about a third of the Rose Red into the Cerise.

In order to get my roots as light as possible I went against everybody's advice and got my partner to do my roots first and then the rest of my hair. My roots bleached surprisingly fast! They went yellow in the first 10-15min. Didn't think it'd happen that fast! So the end result was almost white roots, with a mix of light yellows and some light orange. Not a bad result at all! There were some missed parts from the bleaching which we had to go over again, twice, but it was my partners first time bleaching and he did a fantastic job! ๐Ÿ™‚ We then applied the dye and I left it on overnight.

Next day I got my hair cut. I left it until after the dye job so I could decide on a cut to suit my colour (and also if I needed an emergency hair appointment in case it went all wrong!)

This is the end result:

I'm so pleased with it!!! ;D And my hair is still in very good condition ๐Ÿ™‚ Kudos to my lovely partner for having the patience to do it all for me!

Looks great on you! ๐Ÿ™‚

I got asian black hair as well, but it's VERY thick, and is in very good condition, even after lots of bleaching. My hairdresser is in awe actually ๐Ÿ˜›

But anyways, Good job! ๐Ÿ˜€

I thought so!  Such great music from those guys, although I agree that the latest album wasn't quite the same.
