I am so naughty!
So I had this cruella (see profile pic) but after a few weeks the blonde bit was looking really grey and manky, not a nice grey, a gross, patchy mess. I couldn't bleach it again and my ginger roots were making the whole thing very high maintenence.
So I thought AHH I'll go back ginger, and bleached it once with L'oreal Maximum blonde, then I 'toned' it ginger with a lot of conditioner mixed with a tiny bit of Manic Panic electric lava:
It's okay I suppose...NOT:
Don't try and bleach your own hair, patchy as anything!
Impatient to sort it out...you all know what's coming...I roped in a friend to bleach the dark patches out a few days later, and bleach bathed the rest of the ginger (not the lighter part)
OH MY GOODNESS
I've never lost so much hair on a bleach before, oops! Luckily I have super thick hair, but jeez- heart attack. Stringy central :'( It's not a big disaster as I don't have long hair or anything but still, I'm gonna have those daft short frizzy bits all over! Sigh... so I did another dilute Electric Lava over it but a little stronger this time. It was overdue a trim anyway so I cut a couple of inches off and now I have this going on.
It's a proper mess because I tied it up to dry then took it back down again, it's not too frizzy huge usually, ha!
I'm just going to have to live with any patchiness because it can't handle another bleach! Noooo.
So anyway, I like the colour, it's a nice bright orange irl, however the style it is now in looks weird orange - a blunt, short, fringed wiggy bob. I feel like a scottish choirboy. ;D So I'm thinking about trying a pink over it when it's faded a bit. Ideally a diluted Atomic Pink but there's none for sale atm, so flamingo pink might have to do by directions. Might get some tomorrow...hmm?
Having overdone it I am now experimenting with up-do's and extentions and will need to leave it alone for a few years again! Sorry barnet!
Yikes, sorry you fried your hair! But hey it's happened to so many of us! I don't think it looks too bad in pictures, and I think the colour looks awesome. But obviously damage is kinda hard to photograph anyways so it's hard to tell.
Hope your hair feels better soon!
I think your fringe and bob look amazing ginger - I love the first pic, I think the colour actually looks really nice in that photo. But I get that in real life it probably didn't look as nice as it does there.
Pinky auburn is one of the colours on my list. Maybe after my next one!
Also: love the leopard print jumper.
Well, it works for LeeLoo!
You've got lovely hair and I'm glad you didn't lose too much of it!
Ha I love LeeLoo, now if only I looked like that and could pull it off ha!
Creamsoda - it's a dressing gown teehee! Yeah the lengths of it were ok actually but the root area was a state and there was bits underneath that were virtually black too. Doh.
Thanks Theordora, it's not a mega disaster I suppose, I'm just a bit sad because I love changing my hair colour, but I haven't been sensible so now I can't do anything drastic for aaaages, my base colour on most of my hair is now too dark to take blue/greens/pastels. One of my favourite hair colours of recent years was my pale turquoise, wish I'd kept it longer! Jewel pinks and purples will still work ok though I think. We shall see!
Ok I feel a bit less panicky about not being able to change colour for years after some hairball tests:
The turquoise went a surprisingly nice colour, a nice teal I would say. Nice when the light hits it and would go well with a purple I reckon. Look what it will fade out to though! Bit of a mucky green.
The flamingo pink diluted makes a kinda dusky rose colour, not as orange as it appears in the photo, while undiluted it goes almost magenta; pinky red.
I might try some purples next, haven't done a purple for aaages! Not hopeful about it on orangey hair though!

I like that diluted Flamingo Pink a lot! Sounds like a really interesting colour from your description.
I've had purple hair a couple of times and I never bleached my hair much past orange before putting the colour on. Blue-based purple (I used CC Violette) had a nicer colour at first but would fade to a yucky grey quite quickly; pink-based purples faded better but were always a little bit pinky even straight after dying.
I fried my hair too, think its gonna be chop for me π Ive had it real short before, but was growing my long side π
love the colour though!!!
Ahh it grows back quicker than you realise, and no point crying over spilt milk ey? π I have some Jo-Bazz colour remover baking away at the moment to see if I can get my hair light enough to ever do a blue again...sigh. I have turquoise, plum, electric lava and flamingo pink all waiting anxiously to see which one gets chosen later tonight..ha!
