Henna gloss

Hi guys! So I've been really really down for a while now, and my hair hasn't really helped. I got it cut into a plunging bob after the dreadlock incident during my honeymoon, and then on a whim cut the front as it was still full of bleach damage. So now I have short-ish hair which is really healthy and 90% my natural colour. The problem is that it is so boring and getting me depressed, I already have self-esteem issues but seeing my boring hair in the mirror was not helping.
So after thinking it through, I decided to go with some henna. The reason for it is:
- I don't want to go the chemical route as I am trying to keep my hair healthy so no bleach no peroxide nothing
- veggie dyes won't work at all on my virgin hair, I did a purple when I came back from holidays just in time for the meet and it literally faded on my virgin hair in all of one wash.
- henna is so good for your hair and I still had some in my freezer

I went for a gloss using 2 tablespoons of yemen light (a very low lawsone henna) left to dye release for 2 hours, then mixed in 2 tablespoons of amla and a whole load of conditioner (used Aubrey Organics camelia conditioner). I left it on for 2 hours (which I didn't mean to do but I was packing boxes of clothes and got distracted).

I am super happy with the results, I feel really "perked up". I even put on some make-up and some real clothes which I haven't done in weeks as I'm always home at the minute. I know it might oxydise darker in a couple of days so we'll have to see. My hair feels pretty good right now, also, even though it's still a bit sticky from the resin henna leaves, but it should be better after a couple of CO washes. I also like how easy henna glosses are as opposed to straight up henna, it's so much easier to apply and to rinse.

Here's my hair before:

ETA: I don't know why my pictures are huge πŸ™ I'm sorry I inflicted these huge close-ups of my face, I apologise for that!

It looks so nice and natural πŸ™‚ and the cut is cute too!
Are you going to keep it until your bleach is gone or carry on growing now damage is gone?

I've decided I'm not trimming for a whole year now, I just want to grow grow grow! Most of the bleach damage is gone now, the lighter bits at the end aren't really that damaged (I assume they saw less bleach/box dyes etc than the length I cut which was fried)
It's really weird thinking that I was an inch away from waist when I cut :(. But hey I've learnt my lesson, no bleach/peroxide until I reach waist! I can still do veggie dyes on top of the henna if I want, as long as the colour is darker than my base. I'm thinking of trying an Adore colour soon when there have been more reviews of them!
