I should post a picture of the base of Cajun Spice, I only see French Cognac!
And maybe I mixed up the bottles, I don't know... I did one strand of French Cognac and one strand of Cajun Spice, and French Cognac was more orange on me and Cajun more red. Maybe I switched the bottles...
It sounds like you might have switched the bottles to me. My Cajun Spice is very orange. I've seen a swatch of it here on the forum. Funny, it's not on that thread, though... I have some Cajun Spice, Sienna Brown and Sunrise Orange I will swatch to add to that thread. π
Yeah, there used to be a Cajun Spice swatch, but the post has been deleted.. It would be cool if you could post your own base photo of Cajun Spice before the store reopens, wanna order Thursday! π
edit: Did my own swatch, and wow, it is orange! Much more orange than the French Cognac base swatch someone did here... too bad I forgot to swatch on my own! I'll go for Cajun Spice, Sunrise Orange and Sienna Brown then! π Also Spiced Amber and Ginger for further adventures, and Directions Tangerine and Manic Panic Electric Tiger Lily for easy topping up.
Thank you so much for helping me out, lady! <3
Just want to jump in to say I've had lots of luck with Adore mixing. Not only that, it lasts very long over bleached hair, the lighter the better. Over non-bleached, it washed out right away. Just my experience. Also it shines more than other, more expensive dyes I've tried and I find them easily. The range is great and makes for a much greater variety of color mixing. The swatches online aren't super true, but not that bad. Usually its purples that photograph more blue, but that's every purple. Some of the reds (I've heard) look more coppery than they really are, but I stick to Raging Red for mixing. I like that they have a variety of naturals as well as pink/red it's not just one or two. I've used like 5 colors from them and I'm pretty happy. π
^ Thanks for that, I'll try doing a bleach bath on my whole head before I try another application with my friend. π
Oh and Cupcake, I managed to dig up my empty French Cognac bottle and squirt a little out, and French Cognac is more orange than Cajun on paper! I don't know what's up here haha.
And I swear I didn't mix them up, I did the Cajun swatch first because it was more easy, then I thought up to dig up French and the one that says "French" is the one that was wet when I wrote down their names... So no doubt about it!
Frou, I see your swatches, but I have to wonder if the dyes weren't placed into the wrong bottles from the factory as the swatch I posted of Cajun Spice and the other French Cognac swatch on the Adore Bases thread look opposite to what you're getting. Odd!
Still, I'd go with the more orange dye no matter what it's named, and add some Sienna Brown.
But if it's been done wrong by the company, wouldn't you think I'd have two of the same colours? I don't think they've switched them up..
I don't know. Just use the one that has the most orange and add some brown. π
Problem is I only have Cajun Spice left, as one bottle isn't enough for my whole head apparently, and I'm afraid that when ordering the colours will be different again. :/
I'm not sure if I should start a new thread with this, or just keep posting Adore results in this one?
At any rate. My colour had faded down to a spiced pumpkin orange shade. It wasn't horrible... I have actually had a few compliments on it! However, my roots are starting to come in quite strong and I don't want to bleach yet, so I thought I'd top up my colour.
I used Adore Cajun Spice with a bit of Adore Sienna Brown. I didn't measure, I just mixed until it was the shade I was after. If I had to guess, I'd say likely about 80/20. I applied the dye neat this time (no conditioner to thicken). I didn't have it all on for 15 minutes and decided it was going to be much darker than I wanted... so I hopped in the shower, rinsed and did a co wash to remove the excess dye. This was the result! It's honestly lovely... and I know it will fade down to the colour I had initially within a week or two. It's a pretty coppery shade. π I am really loving the Adore natural shades!
Ohh I love this so much.. This is pretty much the EXACT shade I want right now, in fact!
I used Cajun Spice but it made my hair too orange, so I am going to be doing as you've done next time.
Hi!
I wanted to share how French Cognac looks like on medium blond hair (bleached). I like natural looking copper/red hair so much but it's so hard to keep hair healthy when you use permanent hair dyes. I can say that Adore is doing really good job on my hair. I don't need to use permanent hair on my hair anymore (except my roots). I just bleach my roots once a month and apply French Cognac. It actually lasts longer than regular permanent dyes. Permanent red dyes fade too quickly. But I'm actually looking for a more coppery color. I've been thinking of Spiced Amber. What do you think?
I want to achieve this color
And this is spiced amber:
I love how the French Cognac looks :). Spiced Amber may darken it up a bit, but I've found the Adore swatches to be rather unreliable.
Lovely photo!
I won't add the link up but I know a web site that sell adore products. If anyone is having a hard time trying to find any, send me a message and I'll send you a link. Haven't tried any of the colors yet, but they do have such lovely colors! *1*

I've finally accepted going lighter isn't an option for now, so I'm seriously thinking about a rich brown. My current colour is a pink base with diluted rose red / lagoon blue combo.
I'm looking at Bordeaux, Rich Amber or Sienna Brown at the moment. Has anyone tried these? Would they go over a pink base? I like some of the others like cinnamon or spiced Amber but think the base is too orange for what I'm working with at the moment.
Any ideas / suggestions / experiences welcomed!
