I'm hoping to dye my hair roughly this colour (although I'm happy for a slightly more gingery outcome) and was planning on mixing spiced amber with one of the orangey dyes, any suggestions on which would be best?
Also, my hair is a pale(ish) turquoise atm, how faded will the blue base need to be for the colour I want to take? Thanks in advance π
I think if that your hair is too green, it might turn out more brown-ish, so I'd try and fade it as much as possible, to a light green. You say it's already pale, but how much? π
And no idea on mixing, I need help on it too!
I reckon a gingery dye should dye over that fine, I went from the colour in my current profile pic to a darker ginger with no problem and it was a lot darker blue. Not 100% on which colours would word to achieve something close to that pic though, I've gone darker shades.
Looking at the shade swatches adore provides I'd say possibly French Congac?
(off to scout the natural shades photos)
Ohh that's good to hear! Did you use adore?
I think I'm going to get most of my hair shaved off (like Emile Sandė) so hopefully the gingery colour will look good in that style!
Well, I've ordered Cajun Spice and French Cognac to dye my hair different shades of red to make it more natural and stuff! I'm a bit scared, haha.
Spiced Amber looks lovely on Amylynn, I might wanna try it at some point!
In the pics is me with my natural hair colour, do you think I'd need to bleach it a bit more?
I'm counting on that I'll never be able to get the red fully out of my hair's follicles once I've dyed it, is that correct with Adore's red dyes as well?
I don't think you need to bleach more. Go for it, Adore is super nice !
I'm currently sitting with a mix of Adore Cajun Spice and a touch of Sienna Brown on my head. I have been wanting to go ginger for autumn... so we'll see! I had a good inch of roots, and it's been about 6 weeks since I last bleached. I had faded my red as far as it would go (did bicarb/lemon juice/fairy liquid and dandruff shampoos for 2 weeks). My hair is really in excellent condition, so today, I coconut oiled and bleached over what was left. I didn't get pics of my base, but it was about like the 4th one down in the middle (Napalm Orange - Faded Dye - Nadia). I had medium yellow roots and pale ginger lengths. I'll post pics of the result either later tonight or tomorrow. I figure if I hate it, I can always go back over with red. π
EDIT: Here's the result... I really like it!!! It's a ginger but not orange. I might back the Sienna Brown back down just a tad next time... but perhaps not. I can't believe how nice this covered. And there was barely any colour let off after the initial rinse. I did a co-wash after rinsing. The suds were not tinged at all. The water was *barely* tinged... and my skin was not stained at all, either. *1*
Holy smokes, you look fabulous! xx
Gorgeous! And that haircut really suits you too! π
Wow, that's a gorgeous colour!! Rocking it! Do you think Cajun Spice would turn out like that on itself on natural blonde hair?
Thanks so much, ladies! π I found a new hairdresser who is ace at understanding what I'd like my cut to look like. I'm growing it out a little... but I'm almost there. π

It's quite possible it might. My base was pretty light. It was bright orange and yellow, but really pale. I would think natural blonde hair would give it the depth that adding Sienna Brown did for mine. π If it comes out too bright, you could always go over it again with a bit of Sienna Brown added a second time. It's easier to go darker than lighter!
Might be better to start out with French Cognac then at first since it seems lighter, thanks for your input! π
You could always dilute a little with white conditioner, too. I did add just a little bit of conditioner to thicken the mixture up a bit.
Stunning colour π
