Adore hair dye?

Freija -It might just be that my roots are too light for Cinnamon, but I don't like the shade of red it gave the henna'd bit either, I prefer a coppery red (at least, I hate the sight of red hair at the moment because I'm stuck with it, but if I have to have it, I like an orangey, coppery look!)

I think I'll cut my hair to mid back soon, that's actually the length I was aiming for anyway, it just grew longer without my noticing. It'll still take YEARS to grow out  -r-
I am SO anti henna now, it's great for anyone who wants red hair forever, but I thought I would when I first did it! At least you can bleach permanent chemical dye out, if you try to do that with henna your hair would dissolve before it got light enough, unless it was very strong, which mine isn't. πŸ™

Thank you for your suggestions everyone πŸ™‚ I'm not even sure I'll try Adore out very soon, and maybe I won't even have many problems with applying them since it's only the ends of my hair that has to be dyed, but my hair is really long and gravity is against me so I thought I may have dye running everywhere and thought it could be a good idea to ask before buying.. no surprises, at least πŸ™‚

Updating with my results!! πŸ˜€

I wanted dark auburn with highlights, deliberated for a long time, decided to do permanent dark brown/light brown base and then put French Cognac over the top as a toner.  Posted in the general hair chat thread and was advised against highlighting but instead to do slices and not start them right at my parting, thus minimising the root maintenance.  So I did that this afternoon πŸ™‚

My base was an uneven level 5 neutral brown, with slices of very uneven orangey dark blonde/light brown (beautiful!!).  I put the Adore on all over, personally no issues with consistency of the dye but I found the smell a little sickly!  Perhaps the consistency didn't bother me because some of the permanents I've used in the past were easily this thin.  I heated it with a hairdryer and it still didn't run, and I found that Simple eye makeup remover took it off my skin nicely.  It stained the bath like crazy when I washed it out and my life flashed before me but thankfully Bath Power spray saved the day πŸ˜‰ my hands are ORANGE but thankfully I live in a chavvy area of London so I won't look out of place πŸ˜›

It doesn't photograph well unfortunately, but it's a dark brown with a slight coppery tint and the highlights show through just the right amount.  Really pleased with it and glad I took the good advice I was given because the bleach went so uneven it would have looked horrendous on top.  But it doesn't show at all because I left a margin of 1cm around the edges of my hairline and parting πŸ™‚

its very hard to find any reviews or pictures of adore, which sucks, cause it seems like a lovely brand.
heres my experience. i tried pink rose mixed with rich fuchsia and it came out almost exactly like the mixture of directions cerise and rubine a had before, dark pink, with a little bit purple. too me it seems like the only difference between the two is that pink rose is brighter. it lasts a lot longer so far, covers better over brassy hair, and almost doesnt bleed at all, which is wonderful. it was a bit too purply for my taste though, so i mixed in a bit of red and now its perfect for me. i think the colour swatches are quite wrong though, especially the rich fuchsia, but both lovely colours

I was wondering... everybody is telling how Adore dye won't bleed and last long *loveeyes*, but do they fade well/ bleach out at all if I want to change colour? I know that reds generally are more difficult to get out, but one thing are 2 months in various red->ginger-> yellow shades, one other is an atomic pink effect that needs to be grown out...
I was interested both in the indigo blue, violet gem or the ginger-red colours... has anybody tried to get rid of one of them?
Thank you!! πŸ™‚

If you have pictures, we'd love if you could submit to www.hairdyegallery.co.uk you say, as like you say, swatches aren't always reliable!

Starshine, I haven't dyed over it because I stay red, but it does seem to fade down pretty easily for me after three-four weeks (usually a shade of pink because only one of their reds is orange based), and when I did my roots there was a tiny bit of overlap that seemed to bleach out ok ... I'll take a picture in a couple of weeks when I do my roots again to show how bleach affects it.

I had indigo blue and aquamarine and they both came out really well with the bicarb method and some head and shoulders/claryfing washes.

I've just ordered mocha to go over bleached gingery hair. Can anyone tell me what sort of base mocha has? I was hoping for something that wasn't warm based. Also, would mocha cover dark blonde roots?

MissRouge, Mocha is definitely what I'd call a warm color, at least compared to Adore's Medium Brown, which looks about the same level of darkness from the swatches. I tried the Medium Brown (because I wanted to avoid warm colors) and it came out much darker than I thought it would though.

If you've read this whole thread, you'll see I'm growing out henna, and I have around 7" of blonde roots now. The Mocha actually did a better job of blending this in than the other colors I've tried, but I was disappointed because my original idea was to minimize the henna red (I've now realized this isn't going to happen no matter what I put over it, the henna shines through) and the Mocha made the henna'd part look more like a darker reddish brown.
On the blonde part of my hair, it definitely covered, it looked more like a warm brown.

Incidentally, everyone is saying Adore doesn't bleed, I'm not very experienced with hair dye, but does that mean it doesn't visibly come out when you wash? Because mine does, very noticeably. This might well be because of the stupid henna though (even though I haven't actually put henna on any part of my hair for over a year, it's still repelling dye! πŸ™
I know these dyes are better over bleached hair, but I've found they take pretty well to virgin hair (but only look at their best for about 2 washes if that!

When I say bleed I mean colour that comes off when your hair's dry - on your neck, face, hands, clothes and so on. I had colour washing out when I used permanent dyes, so I presume all hair dyes run when being washed.

I'm the same.  Veggie dyes will pretty much always run off in the shower, but some of them can rub off on shirt collars/nails/hands/sheets/towels/etc, and Adore doesn't seem to do that very much.

Thanks for explaining, I didn't understand the term. Yes, I agree, I've found that the Adore dyes haven't come off at all except when washing.

MissRouge, just wanted to add something else about the Mocha. In another thread about Adore, I just noticed that Kittylost said that Mocha is green based, and I've definitely noticed a green tinge on the blonde part of my hair as it's washed out (I've tried Medium Brown, Honey Brown and Cinnamon too, so I don't know if the Medium Brown also has a green base, or if it's due to the Mocha, but I thought as you want to cover blonde, this might be relevant to you!)
