Ok so I wasn't expecting this to work, I had mostly black hair a few weeks ago - see http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=5696.0 for my lightening process with Bleach and three Jo Bazz!
My face/ears/bathroom are still covered in dye sorry ha.
It needs a bit of tweaking - I think I want less pink, but other than that I'm really happy with how it turned out!
It's a mix of Directions Flamingo pink, Plum, and diluted turquoise...will be interesting to see see how it fades and if I can be bothered topping it up
SO much love for this hair! neeeeeeeeeeeed on so many levels!
Oh my god oh my god oh my god.
Do me a favour. Shave off your hair, make it into a wig, then send it to me?
Thanks!
Haha I really advise you both to wait til after a few washes before you say that - I predict a nightmare, didn't really think about maintenance when I was doing it, my friends are gonna hate me!
Oh my god, that looks beautiful! But yeahh I can imagine washing will be a pain in the bum!
looks friggin awesome though 😀
I have literally just created an account on here to beg for any vague sort of how to on this bloody splendid hair. Apologies if that's not the done thing, but I'm now obsessed.
ha! It's not too hard really actually. it's getting your hair light enough to display colours that is the hard bit!
First I tested things out on an old hair extension that was vaguely my base colour, to make sure that when the colours overlapped they mixed well - I wanted a gradient more than solid blocks.
Then on slightly damp hair I divided my bob into a top layer, bottom layer, and fringe, all to be done separately.
I did the underneath first. I diluted the dye with a little conditioner to make it less thick - with this kind of dyeing you can't spread the dye around too much so you have to kind of push it through the layers of hair and rub it in, if that makes sense - needless to say, a friend is good to have at this point! I only had a well angled mirror and lots of patience!
On my underneath layer I did plum from my roots to halfway down, all the way around. Then I washed my brush and gloves and did the turquoise, overlapping it with the plum, because this makes a nice deep blue, as I discovered on my strand test. Once it was all covered I put the bottom layer in small bunches out of the way.
Next I did my top layer. I just applied flamingo pink to the top third of my bob, all the way around, apart from fringe. Washed brush/gloves. Overlapped the purple over the bottom half of the pink, and took it down another third. Did that all the way round. Then finished with the turquoise, again overlapping.
For my fringe (not visible in these photos) I just ran small blobs of different colours through my fringe with my fingers.
When it was all finished I watered down a little plum and put it over the flamingo pink to try and tone it down a little as I wasn't feeling it.
Then I wrapped it all in clingflim as best I could without the different colours touching, and left it a couple of hours before rinsing, conditioning, and vinegar rinsing.
That's about it! 🙂 Like I say, hardest part is getting the base colour! You can see the difference in brightness where the front quarter of my hair was almost white, and rest a pale ginger, which has gone deeper colours.
Bloody awesome!!
jeepers! Its fantastic!
That is absolutely amazing!
wow!!! totally in love with your hair!
this is so so pretty! Your hair always ends up looking fantastic!
Aww thanks lovelies! Fingers crossed it doesn't wash out to mud in three washes - four I could handle! We shall see!
I think it looks great just the way it is.
