Dip dye funtimes - Directions Rubine

My ultimate goal is going to be a dip-dye combination of purple, blue & turquoise but it'll require more bleaching to get it light enough for turq.  In the meantime ........

Natural colour: darkish brown.
Has had Lush henna a few times but not for over a year, so comparing ends to virgin roots before bleaching:

Bleach Phase One took me to this:

(Live XXL Max Blonde kit but in a cold house, boo.  Pic taken in natural light)

Directions Rubine applied neat to clean damp hair - liberally from chin length downwards, only a tiny bit on the top areas - covered and left on for about 3 hours:

I rinsed with cold water for ages, vaguely towel dried, combed and braided it for sleeping.
I think I'd call it a raspberry pink on the dip-dye, and I expect it to fade magenta-pink.  Not being a huge fan of pink, I'll probably slap some blue over it to see if I can get purple.  The top area just has a sheen but that's as expected as I only used a tiny bit, plus it's virgin hair.

I'll add a natural light picture if we get daylight today lol.

Thanks all  πŸ™‚

Still waiting to get a better picture but I'm on night shift now for a fortnight so chances are slim lol.

In the meantime here's a shot after 2 washes, in harsh indoor lighting:

Kind of puts me in mind of chocolate cherry cake  πŸ˜›  but with orangey undertones that I may be imagining more than seeing tbh.

Progress photos - slapped some neat Directions Neon Blue on last night, on damp hair.  I shook the tub then used what stayed in the lid, so maybe a couple of teaspoons worth.  Very slap-dashedly combed through over the Rubine, left on for about a hour.

Not sure why but my ipod camera is still seeing it as bright pink at certain angles - something to do with which way the light is maybe, I dunno.
To me it looks a lot darker and it's more what I'd call a pink-based purple but not very even, which is understandable  πŸ˜›  I just couldn't be bothered sectioning.
Pics - indoors but natural daylight ...

Thanks Marthakins  πŸ™‚  I definitely see it as an improvement.

Still a long way from my goal but the longer I can put off bleaching the better for my hair, and I can live with this colour for a while.  Curious now to see how it'll fade, and if I can keep nudging it towards a bluer shade of purple.

This hair dying malarkey is fun!  πŸ˜€

Yeah when I want to avoid bleaching I just work around the colour wheel, you'll definitely be able to get that more towards blue as it fades if you keep applying blue.

Ah, the joys of digital photography! I love both of the pictures but I'm guessing the second picture must be the closest. It looks really great for haphazard application!  πŸ˜€
