I really love a lot of these reds! It's such a shame that's it's become a common colour amongst chavs and skanks. I blame Geordie Shore.

Very true! I blame rihianna also although her hair did look great, she influenced chavs in their thousands  ;D

Im just not a fan of nice bright reds being combined with too much fake tan  πŸ˜‰

Jodie Marsh taken to the extreme.

(granted, she is a bodybuilder now and it does go with the territory)

I actually like Jodie as a person, she has more about her than it first seems. I agree that the red hair and fake tan club is growing, it looks awful! Red hair looks beautiful on fair skinned ladies, very classic.

Oh well, I'll save my red days for when it goes out of fashion, hopefully this new lilac/violet craze will take over.

So, I posted this two years ago, and the idea has kind of been in my head on and off ever since ... the last six months, I've been really wanting to do this, so next weekend I'm getting some jet black permanent dye and doing the underlayer of my hair black.

I love it, can't wait to see pics, i think it will really suit you.

I am surprised you're using permanent though?

I have been tempted to do the very same to be honest, with my pink.

I did think long and hard about black semi vs black permanent, and I'm going with the permanent for the black for two main reasons:

1)  I don't want it bleeding in to the red.
2)  Part of the reason for this decision (besides the fact that it's pretty) is because I have a patch of psoriasis on the back of my scalp that's about as big as the pad of my thumb.  Bleach irritates the hell out of it, so I figure black permanent hair dye is probably a better option for that area, as it won't have the bleach powder causing irritation.

Ahh that makes sense then. I too have psoriasis on my scalp there & can't use full on bleach on it either.

I am looking forward to seeing how it goes!

I have decided to go red & i absolutely can't wait, i really think i'll keep it long term once i get the right red.

I also have psoriasis on the back of my head (and a bald patch which will never grow because its scar tissue) and on the sides of my head and that is why I shaved it all off. I always liked myself better with an undercut... psoriasis didn't dissapear ofc but it is not that severe.

I wanted to ask you guys something about mixing a darker warmer red which is not pink based, I decided i want to stick to the red because it is the color that looks the best on me. Any suggestions?
