They get pretty heavy when they are wet, they suck up water like little sponges. He scared himself once after washing them in the bath, he flung the wet locks over the back of the tub and the weight yanked his head back so hard he though for a mo it had broken his neck! :o. Dozy plank, he had a sore neck for ages 😀

I suppose with dreads like that your getting gradual weight gain on the head so your neck gets used to it.

I think you do get used to the weight cos of the slow growth, it's not like when you get a set of long dready extentions and it's a real shock cos it's all at once. I reckon he must have some pretty solid neck muscles by now 😀
Last time he went swimming he tied them up right on the top of his head in a bun, it ended up bigger than his head! I'm under instruction to post this piccy too cos it's his fave, even though it's a bad photo. I'll stop the hubby spam now!

Wow, though. He thought he broke his neck. That's crazy. I'm glad that dreads down past my bum at all aren't the kind of thing that appeal to me. - To have on -my- head, that is. I adore it when it's on other people, because I'm not the one that has to put up with them!
It would be hilarious if your hubby was a life guard. Runnin' about with a huge ball of hair on top of his head, three times the size. xD!
