When you say 'steaming', are you talking about setting synthetic dread extensions or natural dreads? Most synth dreads are made from kanekalon, which is a synthetic fibre which is steamed to seal the shape. Natural dreads aren't steamed. Quite apart from the fact that human hair doesn't behave like a plastic based fibre anyway and steaming human hair would only make it hot and soggy, applying steam close to your scalp is a really bad idea! Peeking solution can be used to set human dreads, but it's a bad idea. It results in dreads that are too tightly set together to allow sufficient movement for the hair to lock up properly and form mature dreads, and it's damaging to your hair in the same way that any chemical process is damaging. Dreads are only as strong as the hair they're made up of, and adding perm solution to hair already damaged by bleach could end up in weak dreads that break off. Dreads take patience. There isn't a quick way to get mature dreads that are strong and healthy.

As soon as I saw her like that it immediately reminded me of marilyn, a male pop contempory of Boy George that most people thought was female. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marilyn_(singer) I couldn't remember if I was imagining he had dreads, but yep, there they are on the wiki page!

Here you go, I think it was the eyes in those photos she posted that reminded me.

It's funny how almost modern this looks because of current fashions. Now I know how my mum felt when in the late 80s I did the 60s thing lol

I remember seeing Marilyn (and Boy George, and Dead Or Alive) on TOTP when I was quite small and being very confused...
