Trying out a Fading Hair Recipe (No Bleach, With Before and After Photo)

I just did this last night, and it worked. I got the urge to take out some color from my bangs (which were pink, purple, blue and green), and it left me with a dirty blonde. Take note I believe this works better if:

1. you have a constant supply of hot water running so more color washes out

2. the dye you used was semi-permanent

3. you remember that pinks, oranges, greens and yellows are harder to get out than purples and blues. Basically, stuff that has more yellow in it is harder to get out.

I'm just reposting the recipe from my original blog post, and I didn't come up with it. I just threw on the ingredients that were mostly recommended by this forum and some other places on the internet, with a few modifications (Vit C tablets are hard to find where I'm from). πŸ˜€ I don't want to spam or advertise (in case I break rules)  so if you want the in-depth blog post with my thoughts on how it affected my hair, just message me. πŸ™‚

RECIPE:

2/3 of a cup Human Heart Nature Clarifying Shampoo
1 tbsp dishwashing liquid
2-3 tsp 6% oxidizing lotion
1 tsp olive oil
1 tbsp virgin coconut oil
1 tbsp baking soda

Most people recommended adding in Vit C tablets, but I didn't have any when I did it. I only applied this mixture to my bangs for 30 mins. I also shampooed prior to applying the mix.

P.S. I am stunned at how much Cerise refuses to budge, as you can see from my tips. It became a bright, light pink, but I guess that's how it fades. 😐

That's amazing.  I may try that before I bleach next.

I'm assuming I'm ok to use any clarifying shampoo?

I'm going to say, while there's no bleach, there IS peroxide (oxidising lotion). This in itself can be damaging, so don't assume it is fine to use a lot and frequently. If you have any breakage etc, please don't risk it.

I do agree, I made my own and used peroxide in it but I always tell people to treat it as if it were a bleach bath (as opposed to a full bleach because it's so diluted with all the other things in it).

If it uses peroxide, like the mods corrected me, technically it is a stripper. Though I think it's a lot safer than using an actual color stripper you would buy, it's still more potential for damage than one that doesn't use peroxide. Yours is very similar to mine, have you tried it without peroxide? I bet it would still be very effective too πŸ™‚

I agree. I did mention in my blog post that if your hair is feeling a little iffy to leave out the peroxide. πŸ™‚
