I can't recall a charred smell, but I know colour removers are sulphurous smelling, and sulphur can smell like eggs and ash sometimes ... so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Have any of you tried using diet soda as a fader? I saw it suggested on another website, but I haven't tried it yet. I have some really stubborn purple that doesn't want to go away.

If it was cola it wouldn't surprise me.  That stuff cleans pennies and can dissolve bones.

Probably a silly question, but are we meant to do the fairy liquid, head & shoulders and lemon juice mix on wet or dry hair? I did it on damp hair the other day but had to take it off quicker than planned because after about 30 minutes it wouldn't stop dripping down my neck and face even though I put a shower cap on and wrapped with cling film. It was irritating the skin on my face and neck so couldn't stand it any longer and washed it out.

I use a spray bottle to slightly dampen my hair because i had the same problem, had to keep wiping it with a paper towel lol xD

I'm trying to fade mine just so it goes brighter next time I dye it (the same colour) coz it's a bit built up towards the ends. Vosene has helped a lot, it's taken it from red red to like an orangey red with yellowy bits around the hairline but after trying it (leaving it on for about 10 mins coz it's mega harsh on my scalp) 3 times I think it's done all it can do! I'm gonna try the shaving foam one later today. I fancy the idea of the oil one but I've got mega fine hair and it can take me ages to wash oil out enough to not have my hair stuck to my head for a week!

^ Cheap conditioner gets oil out of hair really easily, then just shampoo as normal and you should be okay πŸ™‚

Thanks! I've put some oil on and I'll try that in the morning to get it out.
