How I do my hot oil treatment

I just want to share some steps with you that helped me keep my bleached hair soft and healthy, plus earned me some compliments from various people whose hairs are terribly damaged from all the bleaching, processing, dying, colour stripping and etc.

First of all, I figured out, instead of using one type of oil or two, it's better to use different oils and mix them together. I've searched through a lot of different methods on google and tried a lot of them. What worked the best, was this one method. I mix 1 tablespoon of each oil listed: Olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil and avocado oil. If I don't have coconut oil or any other oil at the momnt, I compensate by adding 1 tablespoon of other oil I've already used. For my length, this works fine (I have ombre and apply the oils on only bleached parts).

After mixing the ingredients in the bowl, I put it in a microwave on the highest heat for 15-20 seconds. I check th heat by dipping a finger. It shouldn't be too hot if you're going to apply it to scalp. I don't apply oil on scalp, but if you will, just pour this mixture over your head in bath or sink, then massage into your scalp and distribute evenly to the length. Keep a bown undrneath, so you can pour over oil that drips down once more. So you won't just lose any drop.

I let this mixture sit on my hair for about 30-40 minutes (you can go longer), and rinse it out. Now, I don't normaly wash my hair with shampoo, but if you do, then shampoo your hair to remove oil (so that hair is not too greasy) and you can also apply some conditioner.

(Now if you're curious why I don't shampoo my hair, It's because I switched to 'No poo' method and wash my hair with baking soda once a week and with only water other days.)

This oil treatment works the best for me, so in case you want to try, do it. Oils won't damage your hair. The worst case could be if this method just won't work for you, but I just think it will.

This is for bleached, damaged, dry hair, but I do this treatment once a month just to make my hair a bit healthier.

I hope this will work for you.

*1* *cheers* *yay* 8)

P.S. I'm not posting any pictures, because there's really nothing for me to explain in pictures, this treatment is easy to do.

Don't you find the jojoba oil blocks the other oils from absorbing? You have four oils that absorb, but the jojoba only coats, i use it afterwards to seal my ends, rather than including it in my mixes.

Well, it's the first time I have ever heard about jojoba oil blocking other oils. I think I need to do a research on that. I might edit this post later after I try seperating jojoba from other oils. I won't know for sure until I try myself. Thanks for a tip.  *thx*

I would really recommend you stop washing your hair with baking soda as it's quite abrasive and completely the wrong pH for hair. It's an alkaline substance at a pH of around 8-9 which swells the hair and raises the cuticle where as hair likes to be slightly acid at around 4.5. It may be feeling OK but I would not like to chance the damage this is probably doing down the road πŸ™ Have you tried washing with conditioner?

Conditioners and shampoos make my hair so greasy, I have to re-wash my hair on every second day. As for soda, you don't have to worry, this is only temporary. After a short while I'll stop using soda and wash my hair using only a water, without anything. that's what 'no poo' washing method truly means. I'm just using soda occasionaly, so that my transition from shampoo to not using shampoo doesn't result in my hair getting exessively greasy and oily.

I've been washing with soda for a month now and my scalp doesn't produce that much oil any more. I only need to wash my hair once a week.. As of now I haven't washed my hair with soda for 10 days (only water) and it still looks (and feels) fine. It's not greasy at all.

Oh, nearly forgot. As far as I know sea water has a pH at level 8. And I swim in the sea during summer nearly every day, but my hair has never been damaged in any way (I have been living in the city at the seaside since 2002-2003 😃
Oh and most of the shampoos have pH level of 6-8 plus other harsh chemicals.... That's why I prefer soda at the moment.
