I still want to try these and those bendy rod things you posted about @Alexia! I think I'll wait until my layers grow out a bit more though (AGAIN, lol). I wanted to add though, I think it would look really cool if you could even get them to curl on the ends and framing your face a bit, kindof like the typical balayage placement except with these instead!

Yep, positive, Janine, I was there when I bought them, lol. Perhaps a different brand or something. Have you purchased any from Sally's?

The bendy rollers are so cool, but I've been lazy and not styled my hair too much recently. Want to sleep comfortably, ha ha. What I do do though is wrap the ends at night, been tucking them into either one or two bun nets to protect them, and when I curl or twist them in, I get a bit of style in the morning!

Yeah, I just realised it was a 4 pack, it won't be with those! Sorry πŸ™‚

Yeah, something tells me the 4-pack won't be enough for my entire head, but it may give me four perfect curls, somewhere, lol.

There's often sets on ebay, hardly used. There's also cheap fakes on there and amazon too.

Cool, thanks. πŸ™‚  If I find I love the effect of them, I will surely buy more, and 'cheap fakes' are definitely good for me!

The only reason I didn't go for fakes is because I was worried they'd have sharp edges or something! In all honesty though  I suspect they're exactly the same thing, made in the same factory.

I finally took the plunge and bought some of the curlformers, i got the genuine ones- long corkscrew. I'm not sure if i picked the right ones though, as i like the vintage look, maybe i should have picked the barrel curls.

Anyway, i can't wait for them to arrive so i can try them out!!

If you brush them a lot, especially at the roots, then they'll brush out in the same way as normal rollers.

Which ones are you talking about when you talk about "the barrel curls"? I didn't think they did any normal rollers. Or do you just mean general rollers from anywhere, not just curlformers?

Janine, curlformers have renamed their products, so extra wide and extra long are now called 'barrel curls'

Right! Finally I understand lol I knew they'd renamed them, but I thought it was different names πŸ™‚ No idea why you'd call them barrel curls though, makes no sense to me. I get that they're bigger, looser curls, but they're even all the way down, unlike actual barrel curls which are tighter at the bottom. Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter.

Anyway, they will be better for the vintage look, the extra wide would be too loose I think, especially on your length hair. More 70s... unless that's the vintage you're going for?

Janineb, i should have said, a pinup/50's vintage style.

They worked amazingly, with perfectly defined spiral curls, lasted 4 days & i could have gone another day without washing, but as i usually wash daily i couldn't stand it any longer!

I'm still not sure if they're in keeping with the style id prefer, i think i should have got the wide curl, but i might try the cheaper ones on ebay if i buy more, as now i have got them, i can't see how the cheaper ones would be different? One of mine already frayed anyway!!

I used the headband method just this week. I like the beachy waves they make and this method doesn't disrupt my sleep which is amazing since I'm the lightest sleeper in the world. It doesn't really curl the back of your head though. It mainly curls the front and really opens up your face area.

This is my first morning with them

Still looked alright three days later but it did lose volume

Not sure why people lose their curls quickly. I did take a lot of precautions though. Kept my hair in the headband for nearly 12 hours. Put mousse and leave-in conditioner in my hair before putting it up. Then sprayed with some hairspray and curl finishing spray and it stayed till my next hair wash session.

I also tried the sock curls. It was such a bitch to sleep in but i did get through the night. But the volume stayed way better. Made looser hollywood curls from my experience. (Then again I also loved brushing it out so maybe that's why I didn't have the tight curls from the video haha) You HAVE to use leave in conditioner for this method or your ends will feel like garbage.

I don't really have a good pictures of it though. If I decide to try it again I'll make sure to take some.

I really wanna try other methods but haven't come across any new ones that has caught my interest.
