Any oil should be fine πŸ™‚

Cool  πŸ™‚  I've got some coconut oil on my hair in preparation, will give the fading a go after lunch.

Edit:  I didn't think much of it last night before it dried but it has actually pulled my dipdye from bluey-green to a slightly lighter green  πŸ™‚  which I actually quite like but I'm determined to have a go at aquamarine!  So I'll probably try this again in a week or so.  Feels MUCH less damaging than a bleach bath!

Before & afters:

Edit 2:  Second application, a week later, left on for 45 minutes  πŸ™‚  pretty much back to base colour with some slight greeny hints lingering, which is fine because it'll give me a multi-tonal effect.

Am at work so I don't have time to read this all but I do have a few questions and I'm sorry if they've been covered.
Are people putting this on damp wet hair?
Also are you coconut oiling first or treating it like a colour remover on clarified dry hair? I was considering a bleach bath but the comments about how hair feels less damaged are making me away toward this.. I have 1 sachet of powder left from my sisters hair so I could do it technically

Hello! I wonder if it's possible to bleach after that and how long should I wait to bleach?

Hexialyse - I'd consider it like a bleach bath and suggest waiting at least a week before bleaching.

Tried this yesterday. 1st picture - 2nd pic is the before and after. I got patchy results lol my bad

I tried it again today. (3rd pic) It didn't lift as much. I'm still left with pinkish-purplish tinge. I think it's the build up. I've had Punky Plum on my head for about 3 months now.

Do you think if I use head & shoulders shampoo everyday, all the color that's left would fade entirely? Or should I just slab on my Adore Purple Rage? Aiming for a light purple (or a pastel)

You haven't added any pics. If it is a pinky purple you can tone it with diluted blue to make a nice lilac.

So, I started out with this colour on pale yellow hair.

I ended up with this...

Hmm. Great, the colour has all gone... but it's come out dark strawberry blonde. How? Why? It's even all over, so it's not likely to be the green reacting with something (it was a load of different dyes randomly placed anyway) and bits that were almost white on the ends are now the same colour. What the flipping heck happened? It's ruined my plans. humpf.

Granted, it is still wet, so it's darker than it actually is (though it looks paler here anyway!). But it shouldn't be this colour at all!

Edit... Maybe the olive oil stained it? This is irritating me more and more now! I don't know what caused it so I have no idea how to fix it πŸ™

That's really weird, the part that's yellow looks like it's darker than it was before. That's never happened to me and I've done this loads

Sorry I can't be more helpful πŸ™

Yeah, it's all much darker! Its almost a totally even colour. It just looks like I've bleached it badly πŸ™

Chemicals in the water reacting with the bleach maybe? No idea really, i have never seen it happen before. If it leaves a warm base that is usually due to pigments in the dyes as you suggest, but obviously not the case here.
Maybe give it a wash with clarifying/chelating (swimmers) shampoo, see if that shifts it at all

Yeah, used swimming shampoo after my swim this evening, no difference. Very frustrating. I just wish I had a clue. The only thing I can think of still is maybe staining from the olive oil... Still not sure how likely even that seems though. It's the only thing that has a colour in what I used. I've used this bleach with the water round here before and it came out fine.

I do overnight olive oil/coconut oil soaks and it has never stained mine, (even the cheap and cheerful olive oil from the cheapy shop that I buy just for my hair)so it seems unlikely. Got me totally stumped
