Yeah, fine. No issues with yellows. Well, no more than usual as my hair loves to cling to the last little bit of yellow!

I'm not fully convinced it was deposits to be honest.

I am glad it is gone, what do you think it was?

I don't know! I'm not saying it's impossible, it's absolutely possible. I've now read that purification system in pools can leave iron and copper deposits. It's still just odd that bleach bathing removed the yellow so quickly, yet caused it before? So I'm just not convinced, that's all πŸ™‚

I'm glad you got that warmth out! I'm still pretty puzzled by it!

Hi Everyone,  πŸ™‚

I wanted to share the results from Katie's fading treatment, it worked great! This is the results after 1 go (hair still damp in picture on right as I am so excited and wanted to share!) I've been dying my hair blue coming up for a year, and now want a change. As you can see Katie's fading treatment worked really well and my hair feels very soft.

Many thanks Katie for all your hard work!  *thx*

I decided to try again. Same result. Straw coloured hair where it was pale yellow before. In fact, it's closer to ginger this time.

I didn't use olive oil in the small chance it was that, doubled on the coconut oil.

Used Indola this time when I used BlondeMe last time.

I give up.

That is so weird. I wonder what it could be. The scientist in me would love to experiment on your hair.

Lol but no thanks πŸ˜‰

I'd be totally fascinated if it weren't so blooming annoying!

I'd be inclined to believe the deposits thing if it weren't for the fact I've bleached roots several and even bleach bathed to remove the straw colour last time. So why, when there's no peroxide, does it do this? Surely it would still do the same if it were deposits and peroxide?

If hair is exposed to lightener, or higher pH oxidative color, if there's lead deposits, hair will discolor immediately. If there's silver nitrate, there will be no change in hair color. But, silver nitrate leaves a green tint, so you would be able to tell if that was it or not without any kind of process. If there's copper, hair will start to rapidly heat up and start to basically disintegrate. I still do not know the exact science of other deposits and their effects from particular alkaline and acidic substances. I do know that it is possible though that there may be deposits reacting  to my fading treatment, whereas they may not with lightener. I really do not know what else it could possibly be for the discoloration to be so consistent. I mean, if you eliminated the olive oil, ingredients wise it would be like doing a bleach bath on pre Coconut oiled hair, minus the developer. Though developer is more acidic, my FT is still a lower pH than a BB. It will largely take on the pH of the shampoo. Which shampoo dud you use for the fading treatments? And did you use the same if you did bleach baths? Also, which lightener did you use for the fading treatments? And do you or have you used any keratin treatments lately? I have heard of discoloration happening with certain keratin based products, and also when certain alkaline ingredients are exposed to it and not neutralized after - the hair darkening to a brassy golden color. Once I know the above information, I am going to talk to Mags Kavanaugh about it, she's a seasoned Cosmetic Chemist, Trichologist and Stylist. She is extremely knowledgeable about these things.

Other deposits I am not sure yet as to what does what

I don't use anything with keratin as my hair hates it. It goes brittle almost straight away, so I just don't bother anymore.

I use a swimmers shampoo all the time. I used the same shampoo for the bleach bath and the bleach/oil/shampoo fading, I think all the times I did them, but that wasn't the swimmers shampoo. It's this one http://www.international.boots.com/en/Boots-Ingredients-Coconut-and-Almond-Shampoo-300ml_863447/ that I'm gradually using up for stuff like this.

I used BlondeMe last time (99% sure anyway) and Indola bleach powder this time (it definitely wasn't Indola last time).

I just want you to know (as it appears you blocked me on Instagram?) I'm not getting at you personally for this and blaming you. I want to know why this is happening when I seem to be doing everything right. I kind of get now the difference between using peroxide or not (though I'm in the middle of busy work and taxes, so concentrating on it is tough at the moment, so I don't think I'm fully taking it in). I still don't understand why, when I'm using a swimmers shampoo up to 5 times a week, why it's still happening. Maybe I need a better shampoo for it? I probably wouldn't do it again even if I didn't get the yellow because I don't find it any less damaging than a bleach bath, but that's beside the point.

I normally wouldn't double post, but I want this post to show up. I'll merge them later.

So, another really weird development.

I still had a little blue in my hair after doing the last shampoo/bleach powder/oils. I decided to use a colour remover.

My hair turned proper blue again! The yellow mostly went, but was replaced with blue.

I. Don't. Understand.

It was bluer than before I started with the bleach powder. The blue was even a little into the fairly freshly bleached roots, and that makes no sense at all. It's faded a bit again, and in places it's bluer still than before I started.

But, it took out the rest of the yellow. After a swim today, and washing with swimmers shampoo and then purple shampoo, the roots are actually almost white (which I find so hard to get without having ruined my hair). So, at the moment, I've really no idea what's going on.

Your hair is sentient and has taken on a life of its own.

I have no idea either! Definitely very strange.

I had the same problem as Janineb, my base was pale blonde and was stripped to dirty blonde in some places (others have just gone muddy green but that's normal)
