Hey ladies (and gents), it would seem my hair has decided that now winter is here it's going to be a tangled mess every time I leave the house - does anybody have any recommendations for something I can use to make it less easily tangled?
My hair is slightly wavy and very fine. I struggle a bit with some products as I find my hair can get greasy quite easily but at the moment as soon as I go out in the wind (I live right by the sea so the wind can be awful) the underneath of the back of my hair gets matted!
I've not had long hair for years and I'd forgotten what a pain it can be! I will tie it up on days when I'm just going to the shops or whatever but I like to wear it down if I go somewhere nice.
i have the same issue. I find that a small amount of serum on the ends only helps a lot. It keeps them smooth and less likely to tangle. I also use Joico split end mender on days I wash my hair to help smooth the ends. I try to use light (the ones that are more liquid than oil) serums as some can be silicone heavy and make my hair feel greasy.
Oooh thanks, I'll have a look into that one! I'm sure I had a serum I got free with a magazine somewhere, it was called oil-free oil or something, I should probably try and find that and see if it's any good as I seem to remember it having an almost gel like consistency.
I was looking at leave-in conditioners but when I've tried them before they tend to make my hair look weirdly fluffy for some reason!
I have the fluffy issue with my hair when I use leave in's. I found one at my local sallys that is ok, but I still get some fluff so I wouldn't suggest it. I think serums are the way to go, I used to have one by the brand organix I believe and it was ok, did the job of keeping my hair untangled, but my absolute favorite is biosilk from nexus, the stuff smells so good and its not a heavy serum, its very light and just glides on the hair and keeps it from matting up. The only problem is its crazy expensive. 🙁
I'm glad it's not just me! I thought I was imagining it at first but I tried a few and they all do it! I'll maybe have to hint for some of that Biosilk stuff for xmas as I'm pretty poor at the moment. I'm even thinking of trying some beard oil I bought for my fella that he never uses!
As long as its not too thick and greasy, I would say go for it!
I tried it on the very ends before as a pre-wash treatment and it seemed fine so I might see what a tiny amount does as a serum. I don't think I'll be buying the biosilk this month, just got my figures back from the shop I sell my art through for last month and I've not even covered my rent of my space in the shop! Ah well!
