As as much as I love my intense red colour, it fades a lot, and I'm finding that I leave a trail of pink wherever I go, it's actually not as cute as it sounds..
So I am looking to go blonde when I have used up all my red supplies, in about a month or so.
My hair could do with the protein from the Aphogee Two-Step, which I havn't used since Sept as I was unsure if it would seal the red in and make it difficult to bring back out, I have emailed Aphogee twice but havn't managed to get a conclusive answer from them.
I already have my de-redding supplies, and a week away from the world in which to realistically go blonde with 2 or 3 colour removers, osmo intense moisture restore.. But I'm not sure I wanna cause myself a load of extra drama by locking in the red colour with heat used in the Aphogee setting process, though I do use a dryer usually on medium, though Aphogee requires high, I've heard horror stories about the use of straighteners over XXL type colors..
My hair history. This time last year I was a box dye dark blonde, then a medium brown, then for Halloween an XXL red, once, then I have used Adore Intense red and Directions Rubine to stay fresh.. no styling products, no straighteners, hot rollers once or twice..
My reason for wanting to go blonde is that my hair gets damaged quickly and doesn't seem to take dyes very well., I need to get as close to my natural dark blonde mouse shade again.
If I use anything box based or dark, after a while, I will get much lighter ends, even if I switch the bleach that comes with the box for a 20, maybe I should try a 10, I can't afford salon visits all the time and even the natural shades that adore make, don't tend to look so natural on me, they are far too ginger of green based and tend to fade to that so quckly. I intend to get to a blonde base and ask a hairdresser friend to hook me up with as gentle a toner/colour for the length of my hair if I get a problem. I certainly don't intend to box dye my hair more than once. I just want it all to blend in again.. π Red has been fun. And it is truly beautiful.. but the pink trail.. Has just got to stop! Thanks for reading!x
Could someone please advise..
I have never really used protein treatments so can't really comment on that. However, i think it will be quite tricky to get the reds out of your hair and go back to a mousy (ash) blonde/brown whatever you do. You will need to use a colour remover, (because you have permanent dyes in there) which will take any protein treatment out, so do the treatment now or later, it isn't going to make a huge difference tbh.
Natural dark blondes are tricky to achieve, especially if there is warmth in your base. Ideally you want to get past the orangey stages (probably will have to bleach) and then go darker with a deposit only demi permanent dye and a low vol peroxide (less than 10 vol)
If you just want to stay red but without the bleeding, you just need to change your routine. Dilute the dye prior to application, stop using shampoo, rinse in cold water, seal with a vinegar rinse etc.
Thanks for your reply π I know it's gonna be tricky, adore dyes have always been tough to get out, I have 3 boxes of Jo Bazz and I have some time, I don't wanna fry my hair, but I'm not sure wh http://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/hair-colour/all-over-color/excellence-blonde-legend/812-natural-frosted-beige-blonde.aspx ] http://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/hair-colour/all-over-color/excellence-blonde-legend/812-natural-frosted-beige-blonde.aspx ether to stay red or just take it off now and box blonde it if at all possible. For my ideal end result, I picked this
as it's the closest to my natural shade as I'd like to not have to touch my hair for a while, just put whichever toner on the lengths with as little chemicals as possible I do have Adore Choc Brown which I can mix with conditioner to cover anything up if it all goes a bit weird :p I'll miss the red but I have oily hair which needs shampooing and even with minimal washing, cold rinsing, vinegar and sls free shampoo and conditioners, it just doesn't seem to stick on the ends, I will always have fade on the lengths so I think it's best in the long term that I go back to natural so my hair looks healthier
*take it all off with as many removers as it takes, possible bleach bath and then toners.. eventually box blonde when my hair's ready to take it. Then I'll leave my hair alone! Sorry, It's late..
