When to wash after dyeing

Hello,

Does anyone have any thoughts on how long you should wait after dyeing until you wash your hair?  To clarify I am talking about after you have done the whole process not just washing out the dye. I usually like to wait a few days to get the most out of my new fresh colour but the stuff I just used yesterday seems to be staining a bit more than usual so I was considering washing it today. I also try not to wash it too often anyway since it gets dry etc but I would like my hands to be skin coloured again!

Thanks

I don't wash my hair that often, like once a week to be honest (I use dry shampoo in middle of that week). However after dying I tend to wash about 3 days after, for the reason you stated, sometimes my dye will be staining a bit more than I want!

I normally only wash my hair once a week.  I have quite a dry scalp so sometimes my motivation for washing is that my hair is extra dry and needing conditioner, rather than getting greasy!!

If I still have excess dye to get rid of I'll do a hot lathery wash, if I'm trying to preserve colour I'll do a cool conditioner-only wash and rinse as cold as I can stand.

At the moment I have an odd fade at the back due to a weekend on the beach followed by a very hot bath  πŸ™  oops!

I quite often used to wash mine the next day with reds or they were a nightmare for rubbing/ sweating off! Didn't seem to do much harm.
