When to use protein reconstructor?

Going to be bleaching my long hair for the first time soon, before I do I want to check what sequence I should be doing things.  This is my plan so far ...

0. Seek & Destroy split ends  (edited haha just remembered)
1. Clarifying wash and deep-condition (moisturising) tonight, maybe a wee dab of oil on the ends.
2. Prior to bleaching I'll soak it in coconut oil, probably overnight tomorrow night.
3. Then I'll bleach the bejesus out of it  πŸ˜‰  (using Live XXL Max Blonde kit cos I have one already)
4. When it's just mildly damp, on with the dye for several hours.
5. Rinse/condition/rinse.
6. Possibly finish with a vinegar rinse, maybe the wee dab of oil on the ends again.

I imagine it'll need a shot of a protein reconstructor kind of product at some point (eg joico k-pak) but WHEN should I do that?
If I do it straight after bleaching, will it prevent the dye from taking?  Am I right in thinking it'll probably want deep-conditioned/moisturised after the protein as well?

Sorry for the noobish questioning, I'm just a bit scared of frying my hair and having to chop 6 inches off it.

(I'm not doing my whole head btw, I'm going to attempt a sort of ombre/dip-dye)

Nooo! No no no. Totally stay away from that, you need your hair DIRTY for bleaching.

Otherwise, fine. Except bleaching the bejesus out of it lol

I don't use protein that much now as it doesn't help my hair a lot, but when I have I've done it after the bleaching and then shampooed before dying.

Ick.  OK I'll stay dirty  πŸ˜›  I thought it might be good to give my hair a last blast of moisture before I slap nasty chemicals on it though.

Actually now I look over my supplies, I don't have the flaming K-pak!  I bought the intense hydrator, not the reconstructor!  Curses.

How necessary is the k-pak though?  I'm bleaching pretty-much-virgin hair .... ?

No, the absolute opposite. You want as much oil and dirt on the hair to protect it as much as possible.

Hard to say if k-pak is necessary. As I say, I don't often use it now as it doesn't seem to help my hair much and so not really worth it. But it seems to help most people. I have fine, but thick, naturally loose curly hair. It just doesn't want protein. It depends on your hair. As I say, it seems to work brilliantly for most.

Hmmm.

I think I'm going to wait til I have the k-pak.
I'll wash and deep-hydrate my hair tonight, then do the whole process sometime next week when it's greasy again πŸ˜›

So it's oil, bleach, k-pak, shampoo, dye, conditioner.  Right?
