I'm wondering if its been overall good or negative.
I'm somewhat tempted to go lavender but seeing as im no longer a teenager, I wonder if that ship has sailed. (I'm 23 going on 24). I have one more year of college before I work in a very professional field so obviously I won't be able to have crazy colored hair then.
I'm 28, I don't have my whole head dyed an unnatural colour but so far I have never had bad reactions over my hair. Loads of people (both girls and guys) compliment me on my hair, most of the time it's people aged 15-35 but I had random positive comments from older people as well. I've had pink, blue, green, now purple.
If you wanna go lavender do it π especially if later on your job won't allow such colours!
Yeah just do it if you want to! I'm also 28, I've only had a few bad comments but lots of lovely ones and I've had my hair bright colours for years. I actually see more people with bright hair that are older, because most teens aren't allowed coloured hair due to school
I get old ladies complimenting my hair a lot for some reason. And a small child on the train today was really intrigued by my hair today, it was cute π (I have just dyed my hair scarily neon pink)
The only bad comments I get are from teenage chavs, and that hasn't happened since I was a teenager really.

what were the bad comments? And LMAO you are so right about schools not allowing crazy colors, I totally forgot about that. I once got suspended at 13 for dying my hair neon red.
Also thanks for the replies, friends. I'm glad yall are very patient and understanding on here.
Not any horrible comments that I can remember, just silly ones really. I got called the cookie monster and a smurf when I had bright blue hair once, and got asked "it's not halloween yet is it?!" when I had bright purple. There's been others, but like I said, mainly silly things from people that don't like unnatural hair colours. But over the span of nearly 10 years, that's not too many! There's always going to be someone that has bad manners and comments on someones appearance no matter what, so it's best to just look how you want and ignore π
LMAO that is lame. Thank you for sharing though.
Don't let age stop you, i have had various lilac and lavender shades for the last year and I am 44 lol.
When I had my hair green (it was a lovely rich teal, mostly Alpine Green) I got so many negative comments, it was strange. People really seem to struggle with the concept of green hair. On more than one occasion I got asked if i had dyed my hair that colour 'on purpose'. When I went blue, all the negativity stopped and I would get constant compliments. Go figure.
The colour that has received the most attention was a lilac to purple gradient. Everyone loved that, and I even had someone stop my car once just to tell me that they loved my hair. (Totally freaked me out, i thought there was something wrong with my car or something!)
Wow, wicked that's extreme! I don't ever notice people in cars.

Thank you. You are great, wicked. That is really strange though that people would have a negative reaction to one and a positive to another. It blows my mind that anyone would make a negative comment to a complete stranger.
And I would have been freaked out too about the car situation. lol
I'm 42 as well, age is not a factor in anything π
It's very mixed with comments for me. Pastels always get more compliments though. I think it looks less aggressive to people!

And pastels are all the rage with hipsters at the moment, even primark has pastel haired models.
I do find it odd that if you have an unusual hair colour it somehow makes people feel they are entitled to comment on it. Most of the time it makes me laugh, like 'Oh my God, your hair is green!' Really? I hadn't noticed lol.
Often I don't get that they are referring to my hair. I have had strangers say 'that is really lovely' or 'is that real?' totally out of the blue and it takes me a while to twig they are talking about my hair.
I've had a few comments from startled people at work when I used to dye my undercut bright blue. Mostly along the lines of "wow that's bright, we won't lose you in a crowd" but I get the same effect with my rainbow tie-dye spiral t-shirt π which I wear just to brighten up nightshift.
Haven't had many comments on my dipdye but I haven't successfully dyed it bright colours yet, other than Directions Rubine which was fairly dark/subtle.
The only negativity I've had with regards to my hair has been from my mum. She hates my undercut, especially when I dye it (makes me look "tough" apparently, whatever that means), and she hates that I'm messing with my longer hair now as well. In her mind I should still be her little girl with a full head of boring brown hair.
Sorry mum, I'm 32 and live about 150 miles away. I'll do what I want.
I've only ever had one negative comment on my hair & that's went it was bright orange. I can't remember what was said as I didn't really care what they thought, but it was in a supermarket. & my dad told me I looked like a traffic cone, but he was only having a laugh. I did get positive comments on it too, mainly from old ladies & any other colour I've dyed my hair ive had nothing but nice comments about it. I've been stopped in the street a couple of times & it's a little strange at first but you get use to it. Personally I'd go for it, age does not matter in the slightest & don't care for other people's opinions or comments, as long as you like it that's all that matters! π
