Hi guys!
I have been dyeing my hair for about four years, since I was 15. I have gone all shades of brown, and also had bleach highlights twice about a year apart (going brown in between). I have highlights currently. My roots have been growing in for two months, attached is a photo of them. I struggle to identify what my natura hair colour is? What shade would you call it? I feel like it is a grey-y almost green-y brown. stuck out tongue winking eye
I want long, healthy hair that is my natural colour. I have considered gettig a buzzcut purely so I can stop dyeing my hair but I don't have the confidence.
I had a long look today at hundreds of hair dyes but there are none in my natural shade. The light browns are too rich and the blondes are too yellow.
What is my best option? blush I'm thinking of dyeing it brown so that the roots are less noticeable. I would consider just growing it out but that will take about two years to get to my current length and this year I am starting uni and moving cities so I want nice hair that isn't in the process of growing out....
I know brown over bleach can go green but I did it last year and had no problems/no green.
tl;dr: 1. what colour are my roots?
2. how best to return to natural colour from bleach?
I would soo appreciate any advice!! TIA!
I've recently gone from bright red over a bleached base to a mid brown (but with a reddish tone as I'm not ready to go back to my natural shade yet! ) the way I did it was I used Adore and directions dyes mixed first as direct dyes are true to colour so shouldn't go a funny shade over the colour you have then after a few weeks when it was properly toned down I used Wella Koleston mixed with 20 vol / 6% peroxide so it wasn't as strong as a box dye as I was concerned about damage over the bleach. Obviously you need to assess whether you think your hair can take a permanent colour condition wise.
Judging by your photo I'd say you might be a 6/1 (or maybe a 7/1) in the Wella Koleston to get something like your natural colour, but obviously it's hard to tell on a monitor! Hope this helps a bit!
PS) I think your natural colour is similar to mine - I call it khaki or manila like the envelope! Mine definitely has a weird green tinge!
