was boxed red for 6 months. learned quickly that brown builds up as red fades, and i decided last night to get rid of the red as it is more brown, and not what i want! Did color oops once, worked perfectly. Rinsed longer than they said to (i timed it, i know it was accurate). Turned into a almost pumpkin....honey brown. Did one more color oops but it didn't do any different. I wanted to go strawberry blonde. Saw a youtuber that was all gray and used well color charm in light golden brown mixed with titain red blonde to get the perfect color. I left it on my head for 20 minutes instead of 30, because I knew my hair was more porous. Im guessing it was still too long, because when i took it off, my roots were reddish, and the rest of my head was a dark brown. I'm sad! Can anyone help me figure out how to get strawberry blonde? Naturally, my hair is a dark brown with reddish undertones. Its weird how to roots took a different color because I didn't have any virgin regrowth yet!

Unfortunately, you should wait about a week before using a product with peroxide after using a colour remover. The rinsing is usually not sufficient to remove all the shrunken molecules, even the extra rinsing probably wasn't enough.

The other problem can be silicone build up. Some dyes are heavily reliant on silicone for one reason or another. This, especially when you also use straighteners etc, can cause the cuticles to basically seal shut and the colour will never leave the hair sadly. Hopefully this isn't the case!

It might be that you just need to start again with a colour remover, then wait a week before trying to go lighter again. During that week you should wash your hair a few more times and make sure to rinse well. However, you need to wait until it's been 4 weeks since you last used a dye with peroxide as your hair will be in a very weak state right now.
