What Colour Next

I take it I am not the only one who gets bored of their hair colour easily?

I have for a fair few months been Directions Turquoise and managed to fade it out a bit with the intention of going purple. This has been a bit of a failure, not because it didn't cover or anything but rather than because it was a mix off Crazy Color Hot Purple and Fire (all I had kicking around) but because it has coem out looking to much of a " normal" colour.

I am thinking of giving up on purple as whenever I try to go that colour it always fails in some way.

How do you guys choose your next shades or do you have a die hard you stick to or always get drawn back to.

I am thinking of goign back to a pink either cc pinkissimo or sfx atomic pink (once back in stock).

I'm sorry you don't like your purple, I recently dyed rose red by directions over faded blue hair and it came out a lovely vibrant purple that didn't look like a box dye sort of colour.

The way I normally choose my next colour is just by going with whatever colour my eyes have been drawn to most in the last few weeks, I get bored of my colour very quickly. I would make the one suggestion that if you get bored of your colour a lot then atomic pink may not be a good choice as it sticks forever!! (sorry if you already know that lol.)

The purple is very "box dye" which makes me sad, lol

Atomic pinks sticking power is part of the reason I love it (makes it a cheaper colour to keep as it lasts forever on my hair).

I just wish I could find a colour that I like and stick with it for more than 6 months, lol

I know what you mean, even when I love my hair colour after a few months I just feel like I need to change it.

When you see the base from your fade it might be easier to decide, as you can see what colour would look good over your fade.

I think it went "box dye" purple because you had turquoise in yoru hair, which has a green base, with a pink-based red combined with a true purple.  Green and pink cancel each other out, so you would have ended up browny-purple.  Mixing dyes is just like mixing paints--you need to take in to consideration all of the shades of the colours involved and how they may react with one another, including the base of your hair.

If you want a bright, cadbury's purple with mixing, get a bright pink and a bright purple-based blue and mix them together.  It should go bright if you can get the brown tones out of your base, as you should now have a purplier base and not a green one.

I can't change my colour due to work restrictions, but I am always seeing colours I like and wish I could play around with in other people's photos.
