I did something stupid. I was fading out my pravana green, and I was actually making really good progress without using bleach. Sure, I wanted to change as soon as possible, but I knew that waiting and being patient was better for me.
But then the snide comments and jokes just kept flooding in. It's amazing that even when you're an adult, amongst other adults, the high school level crap doesn't really end. I kept getting pea-soup and barf jokes about my hair color (and other, much ruder comments), not only from acquaintances but I kept getting them from my son's teachers and random jerks passing by that took time out of their day to walk over and just make fun of my hair.
I know, I'm 25 and it shouldn't have bothered me but after something that happened this morning, I was just so upset that I threw bleach in my hair. Then I washed it out, and freaked. It looked even worse, so I mixed some god-awful concoction of conditioner, pravana silver, and the tiniest bit of blue. I don't even know why, I was just freaking and still upset and trying not to cry.
*boo*
Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can make this not look terrible? (Trust me, I know that bleach is off the table and not an option)
Your hair does really look pretty, I love the style! And what a shame to hear about the horrible comments people were saying.
All I can suggest is to add a touch of some reddish semi (no box dyes though) to neutralise the green and hopefully bring it to a more browner tone. I don't know what semi to suggest though... perhaps someone else can!
when you were fading originally, what were you aiming for next? I like you hair now, and think it looks really nice, but I know no matter what anyone else says, when you aren't happy with it yourself , it doesn't help x
I would make a toner with some pink, and put that over to neutralise the last traces of green and pull the silver back towards a lilac. I rather like the grey green though, it matches your eyes.
Or you could cover it with a pinky purple, that should hopefully fade out a much prettier colour if you still want to fade. Greens are horrible to fade out, i faded out Turquoise over the summer and I got a lot of negative comments too, so it isn't just you. My favourite was a little boy in a supermarket who saw me, gasped, and (loudly) asked his dad 'what happened to that lady's hair?!' The whole store stared! It made me chuckle π
I think putting pink on top of this to create a purple would look awesome. π I must say, I really like this muted green too. It looks so good with your skintone, I wish I could pull it off!
this isn't helpful, but i actually really like your current color, too. ive never seen anything like that, and id like to try it myself, eventually!
Wow, you guys are awesome. Thank you~<3
Waking up the next morning, I don't hate it like I did yesterday, despite it not being what I wanted. The color is kind of neat in some spots, but despite doing whatever I could to distribute the dye evenly throughout my hair, there are spots where it just didn't take at all (like behind one of my ears, one side at the bottom of the back, and basically a majority of my roots. Thankfully, the way I style my hair hides a majority of the light yellow roots. lol)
When I was originally fading, I was aiming for a bluish-silver as my end goal. But a combo of impatience, the last traces of green, and my inexperience of mixing and diluting dyes (I'm used to just applying straight from the tubes) resulted in this grey-green. It's pure-luck that my skin tone is pretty versatile in terms of how it looks with different colors.
I actually have a supply of pravana vivids coming in since I ran out of a lot of my colors, so I'll have one tube of each of these colors when they get here:
Some of you mentioned using a pink to either change the hair to a pinkish purple or to dilute it pink to bring the silver closer to a lilac. Is there anyway to kind of neutralize the majority of the green but still have a bluish silver? If not, do you guys think I'd look better with a more lilac-y silver, or going over it with a more vivid pink and/or purple (mix?) and just begin the fading process again, but more slowly? Of course, after I go get these dead-ends chopped off.
I was due for a hair-cut forever ago but I wanted to let the fringe grow out longer. Too bad that the fringe has the most damage. hahaha
I actually think you'd get a bluish silver if you use pink, just dilute it more.
I think it looks really nice π
I agree with Janine, though, a really diluted pink should neutralise the green and pull you to a blue-lilac-silver type of shade.
