Washing hair with a soap bar?

Hello! I've been reading about the drying effects of normal shampoo. I was wondering if anyone here has tried washing their hair with a bar of soap.
Do you think a bar of glycerin soap would end up being worse than normal shampoo?

My grandma used bar soap to wash her hair throughout her life. From what I remember her hair felt quite nice and soft and always looked clean but i cant really say if its drying as she also used conditioner and didn't heat style of dye it in anyway.

Sorry this isn't very helpful

If you want to clean your hair without drying it out you can try co-washing (washing with conditioner). You just lather it like regular shampoo though you will probably need to use more than the amount you'd use to shampoo. For best results you'll want to stick with silicone-free products since the conditioner can't effectively wash them away and you can get buildup. If you do want to go the soap route I'd suggest sticking with a soap made for shampooing (AKA a shampoo bar). Watch out though since some of those can be as or more stripping than shampoo and might not work as well if you live in an area with hard water.
