Want to dye hair red/purple, which color to use?! Help!

Hi! I really want to color my hair a red/purpleish color like this photo. My hair is currently dyed blonde, but is naturally a medium/light brown. I also want an ombre affect like in the photo (dark roots). I figured I would start out by dying my hair back brown, then go from there with the red color. I just need help figuring out which color/brand I should use, and whether I should mix colors. I was looking at Manic Panic Vampire Red, but I want it a little more magenta/purple to it. Any suggestions?? Please help! Thank you!  πŸ˜€

Vampire red is a very bright pink based red. I would recommend using something darker such as directions dark tulip.

Thanks! I looked up the directions dark tulip and that look much more like the color I want. Do you think the color will hold if I dye my hair (which is now dyed blonde), back to brown, then add the dark tulip??

No, don't do that. You'll need to just dye your roots with the brown. If you use an Adore brown you can paint it on the roots, then drag it down through the hair a little further so it blends. Then you can either add the pink then, or leave the brown on and wash it off and then dye all over with the pink. Either way would work. But if you dye it all, the Tulip will hardly show and definitely won't be the right colour. It'd be much, much darker towards a black with a hint of red.
