Basically - how to achieve more volumeous hair.
I currently have chin length hair, I just bought a vent brush with the hopes to achieving this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4LzSt3FVxY but I didn't thought that it won't work without hairspray... or I am doing it wrong...
What do you guys use, I know most of you are cone free, and I'd like to learn if there are any cone free options.
::)

I'm interested how to get Scully hair too, she has the coolest hairstyle.

It depends what your hair is like, what your hair growth pattern is like and your cut. But in theory this, even without root spray, will give more volume. If your hair is longer, heavier or lacks root volume then you'd be a lot better off using a product of some kind.

However, the girl in the video obviously has thick hair with a fair bit of natural root lift which helps to achieve that volume. Just look at how much root lift she has before she's even started.

Yeah as Janineb said, the woman in the video has quite a bit of root lift already. You could throw your head forward & focus on just blow drying the roots until there semi dry & then try what she does in the video just to dry the rest of your hair off. I tend to blow dry my hair upside down until it's all semi dry to add a bit of lift as I've got quite flat hair. As for the picture depending on how your hairs cut & where your parting is you could just switch what side your partings on, I ususually part my hair on the left but last year I got a side shave & changed my parting to the right which gave me a similar lift in the fringe area. I'm not saying it'll 100% work for you but from my own experience they've worked for me.

I blow dry it with my head upside down and I get quite a lot of volume. My hair is long and I have a lot of it but it's also quite thick so the trick works... for a day, obviously. It would never keep the same volume it has right after blow drying after I've slept on it. Volumizing products such as foams or serums also work and the ones I have tried didn't leave my hair sticky, but they're full of silicones and I don't know any silicone-free product for this...also because I don't use such products that much.
Sometimes I also add volume by backcombing and fixing with some hairspray. Not an over-the-top, 80s backcomb but just a little bit in the underlayers, to make sure my hair just doesn't lie flat on my head.

I find dry shampoo always boosts up my hair.  I've also heard really good things about got2b volumising powder, but I would imagine it leaves the hair feeling very texturised and sticky.

I used to backcomb my fringe when it was growing out to make a quiff and that method's pretty tried-and-true (though not good for a daily thing, as obviously backcombing is pretty rough on hair!).

It doesn't make the hair sticky (it's sticky when you have it on your hands, though) but it didn't give any volume to me. Maybe I wasn't using it correctly, I don't know.

I tried it once, a friend had it. I just remember feeling a bit too dirty! But then, that's kind of what it's replicating, that dirty feeling. Seeing as I wash once a week, I don't need help there! Not sticky though, I agree.

It did give me volume, but then I'm like the girl in the video and have tons of (wavy to curly in my case) hair and a lot of natural root volume. I'm normally battling to reduce the volume 🙂

Good to know!  I've not used it, so I was just guessing based on how it looks after being used ^_^

Well, my hair had better volume the next day, which I found really funny, I guess I did it wrong or something, but my roots have always lacked volume, so I guess not much can be done except using a product, which I am not liking the idea of.
Thanks for the wonderful ideas, I tested out some of them, blow drying upside down did work ok. In the end I decided to get a haircut and my hair is a lot fuller now 😀

Here's my new color with haircut (not very visible, I am bad at taking photos of myself)...
Color: Diluted Stargazer Plume over not very faded BV, with a few streaks of AP. Hmm, there is still this grey glow from BV in some lights that bugs me, or it's probably my ashy base...
P.S.: No makeup face, please beware hahaha...

I'm bringing this up because I got a volumising spray by Yves Rocher from a friend, she accidentally bought 2 instead of one... haven't tried it already but the formula it's silicone free, so if you were looking for a cone-free product maybe you can give this one a try.

Hi, thanks this sounds interesting, but the cheapest one I found is 28$ with shipping via ebay. I might give it a shot thought, if it's really good.
