Undercut y/n?

So I am 20 years old. For the past year or so I have been toying with the idea of getting an undercut. Everyone I have talked to about it tells me I will regret it, and then I think about how long it will take to grow out and psych myself out of doing it. My hair is quite long, it's down to my belly button and I love it, but I want some change. Have any of you gotten an undercut and liked/regretted it? Any advice would be appreciated!!

I've had undercuts of various sizes for about 4 years and I absolutely love having part of my hair shaved. I've grown it out a couple of times (easy for me as I have short hair anyway) but always end up shaving it again.

I feel really confident when I have if shaved. (I want to say attractive, but I mean attractive to me, not other people if that makes any sense.)

The only consideration is that it will be a pain to grow back out for you, but I have long haired friends who have hidden growing out undercuts just by changing their parting so some hair covers it, or just clipping the hair back when it gets a bit longer.

Wow I'm writing a lot today, sorry for the ramble!

My hairs armpit length & I had a side shave, from the front to just behind my ear & had a love, hate relationship with it. I loved it deep down, but always felt like my hair had to be styled for it to look good (I like to just scrag my hair up at times) otherwise I'd just look awful. Anyway, just over a year later it's almost the same length as the rest of my hair. I changed my parting to the other side when I had it shaved as it gave me more volume & if I didn't fancy having that look a certain day it'd be easy to hide as I'd go back to my usual parting. For me growing it out wasn't too bad, where I had my usual parting & once it got long enough would tuck it behind my ear or clip it back if I wore my hair up. I still get the urge to cut it back in at times. I say go for it, it'd look lovely with your long hair.

I've had an undercut for several years now, 4-5 years maybe, started with just the nape but soon extended it to the full back and sides of my head.  My long hair is now near the small of my back but could do with a trim.

I did it more for migraine-prevention than looks tbh but I love it.  I still have long hair when I want to have long hair, or I can bun it up and let my head breathe.  Takes less time to wash and dry.  Etc.

I occasionally toy with the idea of letting it grow out (usually in winter) but it would take YEARS, and/or I'd have to chop a sizeable portion off my longer hair, then I remember the misery of sweatyhead and migraines and I reach for the clippers again  πŸ˜‰
