Trying to work out which toners to use! Currently I've done a couple bleach baths over the past few months and my hair is light orangy colour with a few bits of yellow from old highlights.
I've been using Adore to cover the current ugly colour but my hair is getting too red from it and I'm not too happy, though if I wanted my hair to be red Adore is excellent. (I used mocha brown mixed with conditioner)
I will be doing another bleach bath soon to touch up roots and maybe put it on my lengths for a bit though worried about putting any more bleach on the old highlights.
I'm wondering about using blue or purple shampoo/conditioner instead of Adore? It's mostly the orange colour I'm bothered about. Ideally I wanted to be a medium to dark ash blonde but that seems much easier said than done.
I've also been reading about toners that are mixed with developer and kind of curious about that, not sure what makes them a toner vs. Permanent dye. I'm contemplating just using a medium ash blonde with a volume 20 or 30 developer all over instead of a bleach bath but very unsure! The result could just end up being too dark. *stars*
Update- I am just going to bleach bath my roots and bought a bottle of cobalt blue direct dye. Will try adding a bit of blue to conditioner and see how it goes.
I don't really know what to advise, but good luck and let us know how it goes!
Peroxide toners are just as bad for your hair as bleaching. They are also only made to be used with 10 vol, not higher.
you can get the same results by adding a blue or purple dye to conditioner and leaving it on as a toner and they are much healthier for your hair.
if you have orangy shades in your hair, then a blue is your best choice and if its yellow, then purple. Certain brands of direct dyes also make their own toners which arent too bad but its always better to make your own as you can tweak the color intensity depending on how dark your hair is.
