Hello everyone, long time no post!
Here i am again in my time of need. My hair is currently white (natural color would be a rather dark/reddish brown) on the lenghts, and a very pale yellow on the roots. This bothers me to no end, I work under incandescent lights and the difference really pops to the eye. I've tried all the toners i could get a hold of, but they ended up toning my lenghts and leaving the roots virtually untouched. So i was wondering: what if i were to apply a very light shade of ashen blond only on the roots? Adding maybe just a small drop of blue? I'm aiming at slightly darker, greyish roots. I'll attach a picture so that you guys see where i'm at, and hopefully you'll have somesuggestions. Thanks in advance to anyone who'll take the time to answer!
(Please note that the pic i'm attaching is a bit more yellowy than in reality)
Here's the pic
If you want a darker gray colour then a semi dye like pravana silver or nirvel artx grey would work better.
The roots look too dark to tone to white so you would have to do a bleach bath on them to get them light enough.
Thanks for your swift reply!
I was thinking more along the lines of a common light blonde dye + few drops blue/violet correction dye (with either 10 or 20% vol developer) because while i've heard wonders of Pravana and others semis frequently mentioned on here, they're not available in my area and having them sent over mail increases dramatically their price. I also already have blue and violet correctors (is this the right word? I'm not an English native speaker) so i'd only have to buy the light blond dye, maybe a 10.0 or 11.0... toning my roots to white is nearly impossible, i've been trying that for over a year now, but i'd be more than happy to settle for gray roots+white lenghts. I just wonder if that's possible with the products available over here.
I would try making a darker purple toner mix and applying to just the yellow areas. This should create a silvery grey shade.
Thanks a lot, i will try that! Any suggestions on how to go about making the toner?
Just mix a small amount of violet direct dye with a lot of conditioner. You will have to experiment with the dilution and time to leave on, but making your own toner in this way means you can tweak it to exactly the right shade for your hair.
