Okay so I see people have said you can tone your hair by mixing purple dye with conditioner.
However I have also seen the same exact advice for people wanting pastel purple hair.
If toning doesn't work the same way as dying then how does this work................do you just add more dye for getting a pastel purple than you would toning it?

Yep. Or leave it on longer. Many people accidentally dye their hair purple leaving on any toner too long. All toners (for ash blonde/white) are purple.
