Swimming and my hair isn't working!

So as some of you might remember, I took up swimming late last year. I've really been enjoying it and I'm going several times a week. I wear a swim cap. Problem is, my hair line at the back is so low the flipping cap doesn't cover it. Even when I pull it down it rides up. As my hair is short this means I now always have an icky faded line at the back of my head! I tend to lean my head to the right more, so it's even worse there. If my hair were longer, it wouldn't matter so much as I could just let my hair down and it would cover it.

So, what on earth should I do! I've tried all sorts of things and nothing helps. I might have to... gulp... let my hair grow out natural!!  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ™ ??? ::) :-[ :-X :- :'( -r- *puzz*

I'm trying red next, but don't hold out hopes of keeping it topped up well enough.

What would you do?

Grow it out? Let it grow longer and leave the under layer natural maybe? Of course, this has several down sides.

My hair doesn't take well to being shoved up in a hat and it would hold any shape it's left in for more than 30 mins. Good when I want a curl, not when I want to shove it under a cap. It's super thick and even at chin length it's a lot of hair to shove into a small cap, even if I get one with room for hair.

I don't want to give up the swimming, obviously my health is more important than my hair and it's great exercise... but my hair! lol

I'm at a bit of a loss.

I would, but it just doesn't suit me! , especially not with short hair ๐Ÿ™ I suppose I could go super short at the nape and graduate it up to the crown. But a blunt undercut looks terrible on me for some reason.

Grow it back into the bob you had before and then it will hide the faded areas.
When I used to swim a lot I would put my hair in a very high bun (which looked very silly, but I have too much hair for a cap) and then only swim breaststroke with my head right out of the water. I looked a right twat, but it saved my colour lol.

I was going to say something similar, let some of the back grow out just enough so it will fall over the faded areas.  I'm sure it's possible to have it styled with a bit of length in a way that it will keep the same, sassy look that suits you!  Then you don't have to give up any crazy colours.

Well done for the swimming.  I do understand how physical activity affects the way you prefer to treat, and wear, your hair. It can be frustrating. :-*

lol that's pretty much how I swim anyway most of the time! Though, I started doing swim fit circuits this morning which requires swimming through a hoop at the bottom of the pool. I enjoyed it, so I'll maybe have to wear a cap those days. I don't know! I think I will grow my hair out. Might do a bit of an undercut... not sure.

I used Adore Rich Fuchsia last week and interestingly, so far, it's not being affected as quickly by the chlorine. It's still looking quite fresh even though I've let my hair get very wet each time since dying. So that might be the way to go for now!

Also, you can get larger swimming caps that are specifically designed for dreadlocks, so have plenty of room in them.  https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/187770079/dreadlock-swim-cap-in-orange-free?ref=sr_gallery_10&ga_search_query=dreadlock+swimming+cap&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery
They will probably give you a bit of a 'mushroom head' look if you don't have dreads, but might also allow you to pull the back of the cap low enough to cover your hairline.

Eeh, I would, but I'm really unhappy with my hair. I can't find anyone here that can cut short, curly, super thick hair well. It feels like everyone here has long WAG hair (I have to admit, the style of most women here does nothing for me). The last time it was cut too short and too blunt (it has to be choppy with my hair) even though I told her I'm going to grow it. Add to that its wet most of the time because of swimming and its so cold it won't dry and I'm ending up jamming a hat on my head most of the time!

That's rubbish, sorry. I hope you manage to find someone to cut it better.
