Struggling to get shampoo out

I don't know why but I struggle to get product out of my hair. I spend a long time washing out shampoo and conditioner but I can never put my brush through my hair without force at the top. No matter how much I scrub I can never get it out! What am I doing wrong? This happens with all shampoos

I'm a bit confused, do you mean you rinse but can't get the shampoo out? Like it stays soapy? Or do you mean it doesn't feel clean?

And when you talk about putting a brush through it, do you mean afterwards to de-tangle it?

Yeah! I will wash my hair and scrub for ages to get the product out, but afterwards there's always sections of my hair which feel sticky and gummy as if there's still product left in my hair. When I go to dry my hair I can't brush through my hair to detangle it because it gets stuck in the sections! I scrub and scrub for such a long time trying to get the product out! This has been happening every time I wash for about a month, I sometimes spend an hour in the shower scrubbing it out and it still doesn't 😩

Are you sure this isn't damage or something?

I can't see a reason shampoo would still be in your hair after a few minutes of rinsing. Damage can feel like that though.

I also suspect damage. If you think it is product build up use a clarifying and/or demineralising (swimmers) shampoo to remove it. Don't use any conditioner, then you can assess the true condition of your hair

Yeah sounds like it's the actual texture of your hair to me too (ie damage), shampoo wouldn't stay in you hair for that long I don't think. Is your hair colour-treated?

When you detangle your hair do you start by detangling the ends then move slightly further up bit by bit as it's detangled? You shouldn't ever really brush from the root to ends with the first stroke. I don't brush or comb mine at all til it's dry.

I have the same issue,  since bleaching my hair the first time shampoo just soaks in and I can't ever rinse it out. When I think it's clean I can squeeze the lengths and foamy soapy water comes out. Rinsed for over 15 minutes. Just figured my hair is damaged.

i've had this before. It is definitely damage.
I got rid of this by moisturising the hair with an avocado and egg mask once a week for a month. I also switched to conditioner washing only apart from once every other week when I use sulphate free shampoo to remove the very little product that I use.
Once you address the damage, it will start feeling normal again.
