Strawberry blonde help

Hi

Im looking to achieve a strawberry blond colour and not sure how to get there from where I am currently.

I have used colour b4 3 times over 3 weeks and  have gone from brown box dye to a quite nice gingery/red, was aiming for blonde but now want to do strawberry blonde instead.

Can anyone recommend the best way to get this colour and whicu products are best, i wasnt sure if i would need to go paler to get the best result so would either neex a bleach bath or more colour b4? Im not sure which if any would be best?

Thanks 😊

upload it to imgur or photobucket, something like that and then use the insert image button. You'll find it when you click on "reply" rather than using the quick reply box below the last post. It looks like a teensy mona lisa! Put the picture URL in between the two img brackets.

Ok, you definitely have the right shade of red there, it just needs to be lighter, as you know.

There is a bit of a problem sadly, though it's fixable. As you lighten, you might not keep that red. It might also fade. It depends how much is your hair and how much is staining from the dye.

Anyway. I would suggest doing a couple of bleach baths, you can do them about a week apart. If you need to do more you can, just take it easy and slowly.

Then you can use adore dyes to mix your perfect shade if you need to add back in more red. You wouldn't need much and you'd want to dilute it with conditioner. This is the best way because, a, red permanent dyes actually fade faster (I know, sounds weird but it's all about the molecule size) and b, reds always fade so topping it up isn't damaging. You can also put dye in your conditioner to top up every time you wash your hair.

Fab thank you  πŸ™‚

My hair is grey so the red colour is all dye.

How long would I wait before I can apply the adore colour after the bleach bath?

Adore colours don't have any peroxide in them, so you can use them straight away after bleach baths. Don't put any conditioner on your hair after washing the bleach out (the conditioner will be a barrier between your hair and the dye) and you can apply the dye to damp or dry hair.

Ah ok thats good to know, the red I would be using is really strong, would I mix that with the adore clear lotion? And  how much would I use of each to achieve the lighter strawberry tones?

Thanks  πŸ™‚

Just use conditioner. It does exactly the same thing. Get a cheap white one.

It's impossible to say how much you'd need of each, but the beauty of direct dyes like adore is what you see is what you get. Though it is dependant on the base colour, it'll only be the pure colour on white hair as it's not opaque as permanent dye. You're going for a colour that you pretty much already have it shouldn't be an issue at all. So, put in enough conditioner to cover all your hair genrously in to a bowl (that you don't mind if it gets stained). Then add the adore in tiny amounts until you get the depth of colour and shade you want.

You can mix with just cheap white conditioner, much cheaper than using clear dye! Basically just add small bits of the dye to a bowl of conditioner and strand test on your hair until the colour reaches the depth you want to achieve. (We can't really tell you exact amounts because a lot of it is down to trial and error).

Hehe janine beat me πŸ˜‰

Adore Spiced Amber, French Cognac or Cajun Spice are all gingery colours, I've tried most of their reds and they're really nice particularly if you mix them to get your own custom shade. (there's a shade called Ginger too but I haven't tried that as it looks very orange to me!)

Thats great thank you, I  wasnt sure how light I could go without it being too orangey, the darker reds all look so good  Ive changed my mind on colour about 4 times lol
