Okay so I have been dying my hair, and my best friend's hair for years. I've gone on every spectrum of teh rainbow, and know what I'm doing.
So my best friend is going into the army. So before he goes we decided to dye his hair platinum blonde. Done, and looked great. He is so blonde it is almost white, with only a bare tint of yellow But he changed his mind and wanted to use my Special Effects Nuclear Red on his hair for a party tomorrow.
So we did. Right now the dye is sitting in his hair and I noticed it started to almost slide off of his hair, and see a bright golden sheen through it. It was almost freaky. I've never seen hair dye do something like this before. It's just weird. I made sure to cover and saturate his hair entirely. It's like the hair dye is turning gold.
I'll include a link to the image. .html
And ahead of time yes I'm aware I made a mess of his neck. We were out of vaseline, and he didn't wanna wait. I found a good product that actually pulls the dye out of the skin amazingly well, especially with red.
This happens sometimes with semis. I know there's a thread about it on here but I don't have the time to search, sorry. I think it's when the dye has 'processed' so to speak or absorbed all it can and the rest dries out, something along those lines. Either way, it's not harmful at all and it's normal. Those little hairs are probably still pretty compact/not very porous even after bleaching so they're not going to suck up or hold as much dye. I had this happen with Manic Panic After Midnight Blue, mine looked like a goldish chrome-y shimmer from my roots to about 5 inches down and it turned out just fine.
