I'm sorry if there was already a topic posted similar to this.
So I was planning on bleaching my hair to a pale blonde, and using purple dye/conditioner to tone it to whiteish shade in the meantime. Then around Christmas I'll probably buy Pravana Silver and use that instead.
However, I just read that you have to wash your hair very often with very light hair, as hair grease shows up as yellow. This is putting me off slightly since I usually only wash my hair 1-2 times a week. I was wondering how often you need to wash silvery hair and how much the yellow shows up. Also, would sulphate free shampoo delay the build up of yellow grease? Normally I find my hair gets grease super quickly with standard shampoos.
Edit: oh I just thought of an idea! If I was to do like an ombrΓ© of dark grey/silver to light white/silver, would the yellow not show up?
It's not really that it's yellow, it just darkens the hair a little, like water on cotton. There's plenty of members here that have had white hair and are once a week washers, so I don't think it's a huge problem if you don't suffer from overly greasy hair (most often caused by washing too much). Basically, don't worry about it unless it happens because it probably won't.
Oh thank you very much! I was getting a little worried, but since I hardly have a problem with greasy hair there's clearly no point in stressing unless it actually happens π
I had white hair and washed it once a week with sulphate free shampoo.Never had a problem with grease showing up yellow. Just looked like normal greasy hair which looks a tiny bit darker.
Thank you! That sounds just fine to me then π
I never had a problem when I had white/silver hair, and for in between washing my hair if my hair did get greasy, I'd just use a dry shampoo π
Phew! I assumed it was a common problem! I'm glad to see it doesn't happen to everyone π
Hair grease does look yellowy on very white hair, but unless you have really greasy hair it won't really show. I CO wash, no more than once a week, (usually less especially in the winter) and my hair never really gets greasy.
Cool, that's good news π I don't think I'll dye my hair that light of a silver, and I'll probably want slightly darker roots anyway, and since my hair is hardly that greasy I think I'll be safe
