Hiya, my hair is currently a faded greenish

I want to dye my hair an ombre pink & purple.

Should I just risk dying over my current colour? - will the green make the pink or purple a different shade to what want

Thanks in advance for any help πŸ™‚

It depends on the pink or purple and the shade of the faded green. It makes a big difference. Can you give us more details πŸ™‚

It's too dark. You'll get mud if you use anything now. Fade it some more (I know it's hard from your other thread, but there's not a lot of choice here) and use a pinker purple and it will probably work. Return the XxL and get some Special Effects a special effects purple or pink online. The XXL aren't worth the money.

You'd probably actually be best doing it blue first. Then the green will fade with the blue and you'll have a better base for purple or pink.

so, i got it to fade some more..  its now a kind of pale minty green.

I chose XXL instead of directions (which is what i normally use) because it was cheaper, and I actually like XXL dyes πŸ™‚

Try a strand test then. But add more pink so it'll tone the green. I can't really help more if you want to use XXL. I've only seen bad results and poor coverage.  I know they're cheaper, but there's often a reason for that πŸ™‚

I used to use XXL all the time. I was in love with the Red Passion shade.. used it all the time and never had a problem with it πŸ™‚

You can use what you want, I can only advise with what I know πŸ™‚ I tried a couple of the XXL dyes (orange and red) and hated both of them. Terrible coverage and weak colour that faded fast. But it's different for everyone. I can't help but still want you to change them for Special Effects because the pinks and purples are so good, better than Directions, but it doesn't really matter what I want in the end.

That's fair. Unfortunately for this dye it's going to have to be the cheap stuff lol πŸ™‚ It can't turn out worse than what is now, right?  and I really want rid of the green right now

Did you read the colour removal method I posted in your other thread? It works, i promise, it is the most effective way of removing direct dyes I have come across. It even works on Atomic Pink and Ion blues (although they take several applications) your faded green should come out in one.

As for the XXL direct dyes the red is actually the best of them, the other colours are much worse. There are much better dyes out there, Adore is a great brand at a really good price.

I did read it. I need to try the baking soda & lemon mix.. But I don't have any lol. I've just been leaving my hair to soak in clarifying shampoo.

If you want it gone that method pretty much guarantees it. Baking powder, vitamin c, lemon juice etc are much more hit and miss and more drying to the hair.
