Short Bangs Dye Ideas (dark hair)

So, I want to dye my bangs some outrageous colour, because life is too short not to have fun and be yourself. I've got fairly dark hair, as might be shown in the picture I'll attempt to upload, so I'd like to know if it's possible to get any bright flashy colours to even work. As explained in the title, I just want to do my bangs, 'cause I'd rather not do anything to my roots, so it'll just be a little bit of colour right there on the top in the front.
Do I need to bleach my hair, and if so, how will I just bleach the end of it?

Also, colour ideas, what should I do? Green, red, blue? I think it'd be funny if I did pink, because then people'd think I was super gay and I could finally have the conversation;
Guy: "Hey dude, are you gay or something?"
Me: "Why? Are you interested?"
And then I'd smack his ass and- er, lets not get too feisty here..

Also, any other guys on this forum, or will I be alone among a sea of women?

You will have to bleach, yes. Dead easy to just do the tips though. Just mix it up as the instructions say, then use a tint brush (you can get them in Sally's) and paint it where you want it!

We get the odd man round here... Generally very odd men... πŸ˜‰ just kidding! But you're right, it is mostly women.

Sally's.. never heard of it, so I guess I'll just look around the mall for a substitute.

Ah, are you in Canada? I'd assumed you were in the US, but I've just seen the u in colour! I think they have Sally's in Canada though. You'll want somewhere that sells beauty supplies. I think its something a drug store might have. If you're in the UK or Ireland (from your use of bangs rather than fringe, I doubt it) try Superdrug.

What color would you like to go for? For some of them, you might not even have to bleach your hair. Red for example would probably work over your base...

The benefits of reading Tolkien at such a young age, I talk like an englishman. I'm actually in Kansas City. :p

Well, would it be a bright red? 'Cause I'm trying to go for obnoxiously bright.

I was going to say "or a britcentric American" lol πŸ˜‰

It'll not be as bright without bleaching, no. But you'll get an eye searing red on bleached to ginger hair. Same with a pink, you could use a pink and get a good bright, neon pink on ginger. So you don't even need to bleach for long.

I'd say, if you want it obnoxiously bright then you need to bleach but like Janine said, some colours need little bleaching to stand out in all their brightness, some others need a stronger bleach. So I guess you should first decide on a colour and then see what you can do to achieve it πŸ™‚
