shaved head

dear all,
I have had a horrible traumatic experience with my hair. I had it bleached 2 and 1/2 years ago and this is when my hair started falling out in clumps. I then caught head lice around 2 months ago so I made the decision to shave my head two weeks ago because I could not get treatment for the lice. It's been two weeks and I have about 1/2 inch of hair on my head since shaving it. Not only did it grow back in much darker than my childhood blonde but I feel like I look like a guy. How long do you all suppose it will take my hair to grow back in? Thanks!

I shaved my hair in august 2014 and I chopped a bunch off already, but when I stretch it it's almost shoulder length

To get rid of headlice all you need is conditioner, a nit comb and some patience. No need to shave your head, both my self and my daughter had lice many times when she was a child, we both kept our long thick hair.
Hair grows on average half an inch every month.

like i said i was still experiencing damage from having bleached it and actually developed rashes on my scalp from the bleach. The doctors told me that the situation that I had gone through may have been caused by the bleach.

Doctors are very quick to blame bleaching and dying hair as soon as they find out its been used. Unless your head was severely burnt, which I don't remember you saying it was before, by the bleach then it probably wasn't the bleach.

I don't remember you saying it fell out in clumps before. I seem to remember you saying it was gradually getting thinner.

Are you saying that bleaching two and a half years ago is affecting your scalp today? That is ridiculous, and i am sure the doctor would agree if he knew the time scale.
Almost everyone on this forum bleaches their hair regularly, we do it safely. It doesn't cause long term health issues.
I am not sure this forum is the place for you tbh, it is not for skin issues or medical complaints, it is for people who enjoy dyeing their hair

I'm a hair model and I have my hair (well, the roots) bleached regularly, every 6-8 weeks. If bleach causes the damage that your doctor claims, I'd be both bald and out of a job!

My fringe cut in August 2014 and immediately grown out is now bra strap length. There are wig recommendations on the forum. I have a kanekalon wig which is alright for synthetic, but you may want human hair.

I saw a dermatologist due to skin issues, and he asked if I used hair dye and if so and my problem continued I should stop and it would improve. Since you stopped bleaching over two years ago, it is not really possible for any remaining damage. If you want to dye your hair again, I suggest that you test on part of your scalp first. Bleach testing on skin doesn't really work as it always makes the skin red and blotchy regardless, but you could be sensitive to ammonia or something else used in chemical hair dyes.

Tea tree oil is very effective on headlice. I hope your problems are solved now.

We have already told you many times that it wasn't the bleach; if a doctor told you that then you didn't tell them the full story or they just don't know about hair dying. It just isn't possible.

I think you might just be stressing way to much over it and stress causes hair loss. The more you stress , the more hair you lose.

From your old posts, i remember you said your hair grows slowly. If that is the case, the any timeline of hair growth you get here will not be accurate

well I made the decision to shave my head after experiencing all of that. I haven't really shed at all considering I have a 1/2 inch on my head right now. You can still see my scalp and I HATEE it I am considering the wig thing and I do hope it eventually grows back in I am guessing there should be no reason I wont have some amount of hair in one year Idk. I know I won't be repunzal anytime soon but maybe it will eventually be like 6 inches long in 1 year.  *thx*

you are right we don't know how long it is going to take to get there. My hair grows slowly like I said in three weeks I have went from bald to about a 1/2 inch of hair so it looks like its growing at about a normal rate and I guess I am just going to have to be super patient with it. I know my hair once it grows in will never  be as thick as it was growing up and I might at this point keep it at a pixie length once a little grows in because I couldn't stand seeing the little pieces falling down the drain. It's a potential and I now believe my hair loss may have actually just been genetic and exacerbated by hair dyes so I pulled a Brittany and hoping eventually that it will grow back i will not be using hair extensions so it would break my hair and I will probably keep it at a short length.

whatever it was my dad recommended I do it. My mom was quite unhappy but my dad seemed to think it was the best option and a couple of others recommended it as well. LIke wicked pixie said hair seems to grow at a rate of 1/2 and inch per month. It was like my greatest fear being bald, it seems to run on both sides of my family a little bit well obviously my still has pretty thick hair for a 55 year old guy but still is thinning because well thats nature and my mom too and I guess it was just my time...but my dad definitely thought it was bold I don't know if guys like it so much some said I was brave but I guess by 12/14/17 I will have a foot long of hair if my hair grows at the average pace which it seems to be doing just about.
